I need someone from Aerofighters squadron to contact ASAP about one of your members welfare. I received a rather disturbing message via phone text from one of my former squad members who is now attached to aerofighters. Please contact me ASAP.

Copy of text sent. If anyone knows how to contact an active service member in US Military please let me know. Im concerned over the mental welfare of one of our in game brethren. From the message I received
I am in fear he may attempt some harm to himself. I called a 1-800 number for the military and I was told they would pass along the message. I got the feeling they didnt understand the seriousness I was trying to convey especially when I told them how I know the person , through AH2,. If someone has a better way to get this informatioin to the proper folks in the military please let me know.

I don't know ... but if you feel strongly enough about it to contact someone, don't let them simply put you off. Look what happened in the Stryker case, where one of the soldiers father's tried to report what his son was relaying to him.
<S> (and good luck!)

Rhino,
You have made a great effort which is all that can be asked of you. Try this: call the person that sent you the text and get this kids unit from him.....if they don't know it, it will be a long haul to find him. There are a ton of men on this game that were in the military and can track down that unit's base. Once you have his base, it won't matter where his duty station is because someone will be manning the phones at his stateside unit, reserve or active duty. Tell them the issue, content of the text message and his name and cell phone number. That information will be passed up the chain to his duty station commander and back down to his unit/element leader. If he's in trouble, they will help him out of it.

The person who sent me the text is the person we are trying to locate. His phone goes straight to voice mail. The only thing I know is his name. He may be overseas now. I have no way to know.

The only choice you have is to call three or four of the biggest Army installations you can and get into their information line. Try to secure a number for their Family Center or (I don't know what its called now)
These are the biggest (or at least they used to be):
Ft Hood, TX (Killeen, TX)
Ft Bragg, NC
Ft Campbell, KY
Ft Lewis, WA
Good luck my friend

I'd post this with a different title. More people would likely read it. Maybe in the O Club too.

I received a text this morning at 1:00AM from a former squad member. The contents of the text as well as statements made by this person in the past in game have me very worried about his welfare.

Call the Red Cross, they might be able to help as well. They tracked me down in the middle of the Indian Ocean when my Grandmother passed.

Correct, you must be a family member....try it again and lie....seriously. I would never advocate lying except when its for the greater good. If this young man is threatening to do harm to himself, then he is inadvertently threatening the welfare of his unit, company, platoon, squad or fire team by being possibly unable to respond to a crisis. I am concerned for him, but for his brothers-in-arms as well.

EZ PM me the guys name I will do what I can to look him up on AKO. Military One Source takes all these very seriously. Explain what you received that brought your concern.

Thoughts & prayers :salute :pray :pray

What branch? In the USMC we have Marine Online. You can look him up if he's there.
But the Red Cross is always a great answer.

Here is the message I receieved. I have spoken with this guy on 2 occaisions over the phone when he joined our squad. Both times he was messed up pretty good. He related some pretty blood curdling experiences in Iraq he had gone through. I ran a google search on his name at the time and there are photos of him in Iraq in the Army so I think hes legit.
This was received at 12:50AM on Monday and I didnt see the message until midmorning on Monday.
"Sorry to say bye this way but I thought it would be best. I have to do my part for us. Bye friend! I love you, pray for me!"
Anyone one who has experienced a friends suicide as I have on several occasions recognizes what I'm seeing here. This coupled with his behavior and statements made in game have me very concerned for this guys welfare. I dont joke around with this kind of stuff. I've had the experience of blowing it off to a bad day and finding out that one of my friends ended his life.

If hes actually saying hes going to kill himself hes IMO less likely to actually do it. I lost an NCO in Korea, he always seemed happy around the workplace but the guy had some things going on else where. No warning at all he kills himself.
Not saying this isn't important but has he been actually saying he wants to kill himself?
-
I havent been around him in while Junky. He admitted that hes having a very tough time handling his PTSD and is using alchol or other things in coping. If youve heard him on channel you would have a clear picture. Its hards to relate third person. Ive seen and heard enough from my work and life to know this is something not to trifle with. I disagree on the part of him being less likely to do anything based on telling people. its those folks who talk about it and everyone thinks its just talk that we usually find out theres some reason to worry about. One of the prior posted was sent the info I have and hes tryign to use some resources to let the military folks know. the phone number off the text message still goes to the guys voicemail.
-
I'm not sure that sounds suicidal, but for sure...better to be safe than sorry -especially if past history throws some warning flags.
Good luck with this, I hope all is well.
-
You know him better than us, so I understand your concern and trust your judgment on his mental state. It is not uncommon for those who are suicidal to reach out, it is all too often that only after the fact people start realizing someone was sending out signals for help. Keep trying to find a way to alert whoever you need too, but keep communicating with him if possible. Good Luck.
-
If the guy is in the US Army, Active Duty, PM the name and I will see what I can do.
-
Good luck with finding him and getting him some help. :salute

*************Update*************
The aforementioned member is alive and is posting on his facebook page. My wife located his facebook account. I dont know why he chose me as the person whom he should send his message to as he is still not answering his phone. If i get a hold of him I intend to see that he seek the help him message suggests he desparately needs. I consider this thread to no longer be needed. I thank all members who responded with their suggestions.
