Title: Windows ME ?

I am upgrading my computer to a PIII 866, 256mb RAM, 64mb nVidia DDR GeForce2 and have the choice of using Windows 98 or Windows ME.
I'd like to get the pros and cons of the OS's.

ME is new with new bugs.
98 is old and most of its bugs have been fixed.

First I used 95, then 98se,W2000, ME and now I'm back in 98se  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
Propably best for gaming right now.

Windows ME has no "features" over 98SE that aren't set aside due to slower performance, larger install size, lack of native dos support, and new bugs.

98SE is the best OS to get.  Your computer will be faster running 98 than ME. IMO the only Windows ME "upgrade" is to the size of Bill Gates' wallet.  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

playing games on win98se,  but dual booting now to W2k for Office and work apps.

put winME in wife's machine, one week and format C:\ later, she's back with win 98se
Wouldn't suggest the upgrade to anybody

Just as I suspected, 98se for me...
at least for AH.
will prolly setup dual boot for other
stuff.

"win98se is the fastest"...

I have 2 computers, one running win98SE and one running win95 OSR2 (I'm trying hard not to violate licenses here for some reason.)

Of the 2 computers, the win95 OSR2 computer boots in half the time, and has a snappier response time even with the same cpu and memory but a slower PCI video card.  My gaming computer runs win98SE because I wanted to run internet connection sharing, but if I get some sort of high speed internet access, I will try taking my game computer back to win95 OSR2.
