Obviously Auburn will be tied up, get down to about the 20 yard line with a second left, then bail themselves out as they always do with a field goal.
Yup.

I am officially against college football!
-
I agree that I hate the BCS too but its just crazy that the school presidents whine about the "student/athletes" but they have a month long playoff in every other sport other than big time college football.

Did you hear how much both Auburn and Oregon coach got for a bones after winning the conference title and going to the National Championship? It is disguising that students tuition keeps going up, year by year, and these coaches getting 2-3-4 million a year. Call me a big baby, but is a shame that more and more students are in dept of student loans, and a lot of state are struggling (or may never) balance their budget.

What's so disgusting about it? Football is the cash cow and brings in a ridiculous amount of revenue. D1 Head coaching jobs are a) Incredibly demanding b) Incredibly Exclusive

Oh, i agree with you. However, not enough to pay the coaches salary, scholarship, travail expense (bus, plane tickets, hotel, food ect) and equipment. There is a lot more then what the revenue can cover in a year.

Depends on the program I guess. Nebraska Football brought in 49 million dollars of revenue just last season.

Yes, that can be true, however, you have to think of the whole athletic department too. All that money just dose not go into the football program, it goes into the Athletic department. From there, that money is allocated to everything that has to do with (for exsample) Univ of Nebraska sports. Having say that, each sports gets a certain amount of that money that the coaching staff have to balance it out in the program. Also, keep in mind that for each meet/game, that sport has to paid a fees to precipitate. There is just so much that they have to cover for the year and can be difficult.

Different conferences and different types of players and defensive schemes.
Just a hypothetical situation for you here Zoom.
Take the Ducks with either team from last year or this year and drop them into the SEC and have them attempt to play out an undefeated season and the odds are that they will come away with at least 2 losses. Take Auburn from this year or Alabama from last year and stick them in the Weak 10 and honestly they will walk away with that conference like Oregon did this year. AND it will not even be close with Cal or any of the other teams outside of maybe Stanford and USC right now; just because those two teams have a solid team built up.
Just my opinion and like I said...purely hypothetical since it never would happen.

Auburn 5
Oregon 6
Gotta love those safeties

Auburn were National Champions in 1957.
Auburn will emerge victorious.

Very few teams would walk away undefeated from a Pac 10 schedule.
The Pac 10 is always under rated. Oregon did it simply because they are that good.
The only regular season match between the two conferences had Oregon handing Tennessee it's worst defeat all year.

Reschke, your first sentence summed it up theres no way to "compare" totally different playing styles, maybe if the SEC and PAC12 (next Year) could get more non-confernce games it would give each conference more chances at playing the teams and leaning more of each conferences style's of play, but we know that wont happen , you can call the PAC10 "weak" that's fine it's your opinion, just like i have mine for the SEC , conference teams play each other harder than non-conference teams, they know each others offense and defensive setup's, i don't care what conference it is the ACC, SEC, Big10 ,PAC10.
To drop Alabama or Auburn into the PAC10 and say they would walk away with it is absurd even tho it's just a hypothetical situation,i mean i could say the same thing but i wouldn't you just can't compare conferences, Stanford and USC were Dominated by Oregon, Stanford had Oregon 31 to 24 at halftime, Oregon played hard and put 28 unanswered points up on Stanford and won 52 to 31, Oregon played USC from the middle of the second quarter they were starting to take control and won 53-32, the Cal game was a sloppy game on both side, the only play that worked for Cal in slowing down the Duck offense was the "cramp" plays
The national game will be fun to watch, who ever wins its going to be there first time so hats off to both schools, now for the next 3 weeks we can hear all the sportscasters over analyze all the bowl games

Historical Facts About Auburn University, Technically, the institution was not Auburn University until 1960. Prior to that, the organization was Alabama Polytechnic Institute, It was during that time that their only recognized championship was earned, This 1957 championship was recognized by the AP, in the same year, the UPI named Ohio State as the national champion, Like many years, it was a shared championship, never a game played/won Championship, It is a part of the organizations history that's easily researched on the internet

Regardless, they already have one. The trophy is on campus, pull all of the technicalities you wish.
-
facts are facts, right there on the schools website, they took over in 1960 as Auburn the trophy came with them, they never played for a national title AS Auburn till now, congrats to them and the Ducks looking forward to the Game :aok

It counts, as does ANY collegiate name change. The only ones that "don't count" are the small
Magazines pre-1965. AP & UPI are recognized by the NCAA.
Email the NCAA if you don't believe me.
