I was going to work on the pool today and, while 50 degrees isn't cold by anybody's standards, sticking your hand in that water when there's a stiff north breeze SUCKS. I'll get the teens to do it :devil
-
I live in south Louisiana. When the temps drop below 60 or so it's freezing.... :D
I'm comfy with 100deg in the shade and 105% humidity.....
-

This isn't anything. Just wait till January when the high is around 20 and that is really a MAX. Mostly the temps don't go above 15 degrees at night, a lot of times lower. :devil
-
don't get me wrong I love the cold weather just not a fan of hypothermia

Currently 23, Wind chill makes it feel like 11.

24 degrees, wind chill at 9, and 6 inches of snow on the ground. thank god I was getting tired of the hot weather.
Summer was brutal, 90 degrees every day with maybe one or two rains a month, it lasted into the first week of november. Thats crazy for West virginia.
-
Currently 27F with Light Snow, ReelFeel says 10F
Grab the Swiss Miss and the Hennessey and get ready for some football!

Im waiting for the corner store to open. Making Squids buddy a going away chocolate pie by request. But I'll restrict my day to indoor activities forthwith.

No, there is another arctic storm brewing up in Illinois heading for KY, WV and VA. They didn't read wrong.
-
25 knot gusts...not even 30 degrees yet....going outside is NOT on my short-list of watermelon to do today
-
watching the weather channel now. I feel for y'all.
:salute to my snow bound bros

It is weakening, though. It should start regaining strength as it moves over water and gains moisture. The lakes up north are birthing it, the rivers over here are feeding it :lol
-
Low 31, high 58 here.
Right now it's 48, and I'm f f f f f f freezing

50 is indeed cold. in fact it is approx. 48 degrees below body temp.
did you know that you can die from hypothermia on a 70 degree day?
-
please explain how one can die from hypothermia in 70 degrees? sorry but just dont cut it.
-

anything can happen in water....right?
-
or in the rain.
-
About 10 inches of snow here.
Now its warmer with -6 Celsius. 4 days ago it was -21 celsius.
-

being exposed to a temp that is 28 degrees below your body temp for too long can eventually lower your core temp. if it goes below 96(i think) degrees, this is when problems can start to occur.
almost always, some form of moisture is the cause of enough heat loss to create enough heat loss. we learned about this in cap, as most pilots never pack any sort of survival gear in their aircraft(we have survival packs in all of our aircraft with protective gear and water for 3 people). thus, when we go out on an SAR mission, it is imperative that we get to the approximate scene, and locate them very quickly.
EDIT
this may be a better explanation than i offered.....

ahh so I can now say that jumping into the pool in mid december to retrieve the concrete that fell out of the busted bag and spent 5 minutes digging it out is officially the dumbest thing I've ever done. Good to know as the list is long and growing. :D

That sounds more familiar: -10 now, few days ago we had -25. Did some showeling today, keeps snowing lightly. Inside the house a cozy +20, in the bedroom only +18.5 though. Makes wife want to keep near me... ;)

60 degree's so far here today, no snow, no rain. Bit overcast, but that'll burn off. I may be nuts for moving here in the Summer (120 degree's plus), but winter is rather nice.

Yeah, whatever. :neener:

woke up to 5 inches of snow, more coming during the week, daily highs mid 30's dropping down to low teens at night, picked a great time to hang lights hahaha
-
Man, I miss some of the Wyoming winters. Wake up shortly after day break, sky is a nice sliver/gray overcast with 2-3ft of snow everywhere. Everything covered in that white. Watching 4x4's with lift kits getting stuck in the stuff while I putted along in my 81 VW Rabbit. HAHAHA It's awesome when there was VERY slight to no breeze at night. The "dry" cold does not feel as cold as the "wet" cold though. It could be -5 degree's, you'd think it was in the teens. While it could be 50 degrees here in South TX, but the humidity would make it feel like it was 20. :lol

Don't forget the cow flatulence

We had a mild frost here a week ago. Have yet to have a hard freeze yet and that's a bid odd. It was 68 yesterday but only 50 today. Prolly get that hard freeze tonight. Been a North wind all day and that doesn't bode well.

I was in El Paso for a few weeks visiting my uncle. They got 1 inch of rain while I was there, and they had no idea how to drive.
Kinda like we do in NB when it sleets 1/2 an inch.

Ok I'll eat my words, they closed the city yesterday and today.
2 day accumilation of 36 inches of snow in the city, just 10 miles north they recorded 154 cm which is just over 5 feet.
These are localized lake effect snow squalls comming off Lake Huron, funny thing is just 25 miles away the grass is still growing and there's no snow! Our ground isnt frozen so it wont stay for long if we get a couple of days above freezing.
They're calling for above freezing this Friday and Saturday, but then it's supposed to get cold again and more snow starting late Saturday early Sunday mourning.
They stopped short of declaring an emergency and the Mayor came on TV and asked that people just stay home,no public transportation, schools close and business not require employees to come to work. The amount of snow caught most off gaurd,I was just getting the snowblower ready for winter but looks like it needs to go to the shop now!
:salute

7 degrees here this morning not including windchill. School is supposed to be called off when the temp dips down below 10 degrees. Everyone at school hadn't a clue as to what was going on.

I do way too much traveling for work........ But I do find it funny looking at the difference between locals and tourists...... Based on attire you can usually tell who is who. :D

Amen to that. That is about the only good thing about winter, it makes you appreciate summer so much more. Less than three weeks and the days start getting longer! :aok

Going to get to 12 tonight plenty of snow. To go around
