Title: Rant
Post by: FelixSteiner on December 06, 2010, 10:27:17 PM
Who else is really tired of people, if not allied pilots not covering your 6. We were all in the same altitude. 5 other planes were coming at us three and the other two decided to be obsessed with a p47 kill on the deck. I was left alone and hacked... Not cool. Worst is they said I did it out of stupidity. Covering your butt, while you try scoring a kill on the deck, I don't think so; that's called selflessness, and I'm damn tired of pilots not having that in their minds, accounting that lots of you were in the military. Man I am pissed! :furious

This always happen, at first were together. 500 cons attack us, they dive to go for 1 deck one and leave me alone to be ganged on, so I can distract the enemy while they do those kills. That's some BS!

Little advice for free.

When you die, no matter how, it is always your fault. You cannot count on non squad mates in the MA. Its nice when they help but do not count on it.

1st rule around here is watch your own arse. Having a check 6 is great but when you depend or expect them you're going to end up in the tower selecting another plane. If your SA is where it should be a check 6 isn't necessary. Find a good wingman until you get your SA down would be my suggestion to you.  :old:

I have always felt that the check-6 feature kind of took some of the human interaction out of the fight.....used to be sneaking up on peeps was a fair deal.  You snooze, you lose...now anyone within range simply hits a key and your covered.

Its NOT A BAD THING....just very very easy to do.  Too easy methinks.

Someone should hold an SA clinic or make a writeup if there is not one already.

To me its the easiest thing to improve and it makes such a dramatic difference.

The first thing you learn in BT is you can only count on yourself. Once you trust yourself, you caN THAN BEGIN TO TRUST THE PEOPLE AROUND YOU.

The game is the same.  FY to the mofo I kid.

Your countrymen had two choices:

a) They could stay at the same altitude as you, and fight against a numerically superior enemy.

b) They could dive to the deck and gang up on a P47.

While choice A would probably be more fun, are you really surprised that two people playing aces high in the main arena decided on choice B?

yea a lot of people simply go where ever the easiest kill is without grasping the entire situation.

I've been in 2v2's and I tell the other guy "ok u stick with that 1, ill stick with this one and we should come out alright", only to find that while i'm fighting my guy the friendly is only trying to pik my kill while the other enemy makes his way on my 6. Seriously? so I would reverse the guy on my 6 and begin fighting with him, oh look now the friendly is trying to pik the guy im fighting with now, while again the other enemy con jumps on my 6.

Basically all you are to other green guys is bait, nothing more.

You can only rely on yourself in the MA and if a squady helps ya out, consider it an early Christmas gift. unless I see a name that I recall as a decent guy all other green people are just for looks.

well,

there are allways 2 sides of a story, i give alltimes 6 Calls, i dive in when we Deucers are free to engage! But what happend 75% of all times, diving in, being at 450Mph, i count the range 800 600 on range vox, and at the second i have a perfect solution the one broke that hard away that  a) i can't follow, because i am at nealy 500mph, b) i dont want to follow a stupid flat turn and bleed all my E in just one move!
second example, happend just yesterday, we LDs came in with 4-5 k alt advantage, another player was under big pressure below us, i dove in to clear him, called on vox he should drag straight, con distance was 1k steady, all perfect it seems like but what did he do??? he turned a bit and pulled the con and me straight into the sun, no vis, no hit, no help! i climbed up and didn't setup a second B&Z, so he died half minute later by his own fault (too much Turn and burn and missing SA is allways a 99% Chance to die quick)

All i can say, a 1 vs 1 fight is just one thing, the fun for me starts with a perfect teamplay, but this works only if pilots are skilled enough even better if you know each other like flying with squadmates since years. Or the otherone is realy a good stick and can read and adept your fighting style real quick!
It don't work with unknown and SA missing pilots, sound harsh but thats a fact! My hint is, go into the TA catch a trainer and learn how to communicate and sharpen your SA

My biggest complaint is getting into an awesome fight and getting picked.  I know, I know, SA is my responsibility but it is so freaking annoying to get picked while fighting a hella good fight.

Relying on someone else to keep you alive is folly. Stupider than that is shouting or getting upset at folks for not giving you a check 6. Stupider than that still is crying about the previous two on the boards.

I have to agree with Yeager on this one!  Don't get me wrong about this as I DO appreciate somebody telling me that somebody is gonna wax my sorry buttocks, but 99% of the time... I knew that I was doomed.  One of the the things in this game that really chaps my buttocks is when somebody gets on channel and starts vitching about somebody not giving them a check six call.  You will never hear me doing that as I know that it is MY responsibility to check my posterior and I assume the responsibility to watch my rear end.  I think that Hitech should include a disclaimer on the logon screen that states that you, "Fly at your own risk".  Nah, folks wouldn't read it anyways. :)

All the Best...

Things to consider....

1. Just because my plane is in eyeshot of you doesn't mean I'm looking at you.  I'm watching my own six more so.
2. I'm not on vox, so my 'check6' might go to someone else who is more in my crosshairs.
3. Taking responsibility for my own six is more of a sure thing than relying on others to do it for me.
4.  It is quite likely to not get any more six calls in a large furball than a smaller encounter because everybody has more to watch out for.  Therefore, each individual figures in less.  This is similar to "hey, a 5 v 1 and you HO?"  I find HO's more likely in those situations because 5 are competing for the kill.  In other words, the logic works the other way too.

Just some fat to chew...

I would jump into fight even though I am outnumbered felix and by doing this is how I learn to fight multiple cons, I may not survive but ill take 2 or 3 of em down with me. Unfortunately  there are a lot of other players who do not enter a fight unless they hold all the cards, and would rather jump in with 16 friendly to kill 1 guy as opposed to fighting 1 guy with a 1k alt advantage.

There is no real etiquette in the game i'm afraid.

Expect friendlies to fly straight through you to get you killshot,
count on them to drag a con onto your 6 to save themselves,
always expect them to steal your kill,
a deliberate lack of check 6's to get a merge,
Despite a reasonable "no thanks i'm good" jump in on your good 1v1 anyway,
say thankyou for the requested vehicle supplies only to see troops running past,

probably more, can't think right now

expect air support to miss the target by at least 2 miles
expect the friendly you just saved from 2 cons to run immediately leaving you with the 2 cons.
expect the friendly to release troops with half the town up.
expect a friendly to shoot at a plane you de-winged and then call out on range as though he shot it down himself.
expect a friendly to miss with every round when you drag a plane over their whirble.
expect nothing good and you'll be alright

I can go into a 5 V 1...survive it is another story but I won't back out of it (usually i'm the slowest plane anyway :lol :lol) I choose to use this as a learning experience...and see if I can* get them all to get a piece* of me before my demise.

And as others have said..check sixes are nice but don't expect one. It is good to rant sometimes too but just make sure you get your message across to the ones this rant is because of.

Fly like your country men are more dangerous to you than the enemy.

Why you ask? Because you know the enemy wants to kill you and you expect that. Your country men mean well but, their indifference to your existence is often suicidal to fly near them.

If you were truly selfless, you would take one for the team by fighting the gang.  A selfless flyer would have let his allies pounce on the easy kill so they could RTB and get their "well deserved" WTGs.  And he certainly wouldn't be making a whine thread about it.

Your mistaken...I've dove into a 5 v 1 just to get a squaddie out of that and me end up in that 5 v 1....I've done it with frendlies...I sometimes do it just for grins.....NOT alot...but I have quite a few times.

Ultimately your 6 is your issue...IF that 5 fighters that were looking at you and licking thier chops had the chance to kill you then it's on you for letting them. Now I will agree that is TOUGH odds. Impossible for most of us myself included. But you had a choice....you could have left. Yeah it's running...but if the dieing part annoys you...or the fact that they left you annoys you....then remember...you can always try to leave the fight.

They may chase ya...they may catch ya as well...but you can try to vacate...grab...and come back. And if you succeed chances are they are now all ganging the ones that left you!!!
