Title: Back to AH2!!! help with controllers?
Post by: guttboy on December 07, 2010, 05:11:59 PM
Hi Folks!

Well it has been a 2 year or more hiatus and for the life of me I cannot figure out my controllers again.  RATZ!

Running a CH Throttle, CH Pedals, and a MS FF2 Sidewinder Joystick.  When in offline mode (need to get it all settled before returning to the air) the throttle and the Pedals seem to work but the joystick is not functioning.

In the Windows game controller mode the joystick works with FF and all the buttons function but when entering AH2 the joystick does not respond to any inputs.

I have a natural Point Track IR but have not set that up as I want to get the basics back.

Any help would be appreciated getting this Old Dog back in the air!

TG12

PS....running Windows Vista 64 bit on the PC if that helps.

PPS....as a note...in windows the joystick registers all the buttons and the force feedback.  When in the game though, the joystick goes limp and no inputs work.  If I look at the controllers page there are numbers that change on the axises but no input into the plane itself when attempting to take off.  Any info would be great!

When you goto controls, map controls,at the top on the right it says select controller,is you joystick selected?

Does your joystick show in "select controller"? If  you have another controller selected it wont show any response from the JS.

i dont remember exactly but you need to set each axis to the axix of joystick, im sure you just missin something easy....when you click on the axis setting in left hand corner click advanced....(i think) this is where you can adjust your deadband and dampining, youll know once you get it set, I would enable scaling, and depends on what ya like or how you fly will depend on oh you set it up,   good luck dood.    W/B

Thanks guys....

Not sure what the issue is.  When AH2 runs the MS FF2 goes "limp".  Under controllers it shows up as a MS FF2 and I get responses from the axes but no response in-flight and it still remains "limp" aka no Force Feedback.

After some testing, I pulled out an old Logitech Extreme 3d Pro.  That appears to be functioning fine and will control the aircraft without a problem.

It appears to be the way that AH2 is interacting with the MS FF2 for some reason or another.  Like I mentioned earlier, the joystick calibrates and shows fine when in Windows but not in the game if that makes sense?

I would love to get it back up and running as it has been my fav stick for many years but am unsure as to where to turn at this time.

I will keep trying various things but I am at a loss right now as to what to try.

Im having the exact same problem with my FF2 and I do not own another stick. Currently unable to fly at all and I had used a free trial to see the game after being gone for so many years.

Guess I'll have to stay away permanently :(
