Welcome to the forums, let me tell you about the Search button, it's up in the upper right hand corner. Please use it.  You will see how many other people have asked for this, you might even find where HTC said it wasn't going to happen.

Or you could just eliminate all that complex flying-all-over-the-place stuff and kill it with the 75 in the first place.  Save the bombs for those that need them (i.e. WIRBLES, MORE WIRBLES, t-34s and tigers).

But Wirbles are fun to laugh at when turreted.  So maybe use the 75 on them, too.

on a serious note tho, ive allways wondered this...the dam buster bomb is absolutly devestating...travels faster than i torpedo (i think, sorry if im wrong) and 1 does pretty much KO style damage...why not use it as an alternitive to torpedos?

i mean imagine this: squadren attack a cv group. bluff bombers attract the fire of the cv ack while the real bombers carrying the "dam busters" come in on the other side, 3 bombers realise dam busters at the cv. if just one of them hits, wouldnt it pretty much nock out the cv? this is just me brainstorming. but i think it would be an amazing idea to modify them to be kind of like "bouncing" torpedos.

The problem is the "Dambuster" Bomb doesn't explode on contact IIRC. It was designed to skip along the water and then be stopped by the dam at which point it sunk and exploded at a certain depth. Although a large enough explosion could break the back of a ship, I highly doubt a damnbuster would do it. Insteand the bombs would skip along the water, hit the CV, and then sink. By the time they sank enough to explode the CV would've moved away.

Secondly torpedo bombers are meat for the 5" guns of a CV fleet so what makes you think a Skip Bomber would do any better?

couldnt it be made tho to detonate on contact, like a torpedo?

and from all the vids ive seen of the dambuster. it seems like it bounces along the water faster than a torpedo travels.

it could be succesful in a way that since it travels faster than a torpedo, it would have a higher chance of hitting the cv than a torpedo.

you have to get right in the cvs face in the front b4 realising the torpedo in order to garruentee a hit, and thats pretty much what makes them cannon fodder.

but with the dam buster, couldnt you realise is a further ways back and the momentum of the drop would bounce it along to target?.

p.s: i know none of this happen in ww2, im just brainstorming an idea.

the "bouncing bomb" was more like a depth charge than a bomb.

google "high ball" and barnes wallis.

he made a smaller "bomb" for use against ships but as far as i no it was never used in action.
the germans made there own version that was rocket assisted.

Does that matter? It's proof that its possible and can be a valuable addition to the game. In FA it was a technique of dropping the bombs which made them skip on the water. This link should prove the validity of skip bombing.    http://www.historynet.com/general-george-c-kenney-pioneer-of-aerial-warfare-strategy-and-tactics-in-world-war-iis-pacific-theater.htm

Sure it's possible, but we have to weight their value vs the time spent to create them.

dumpster diving i see...and wrong to boot.  :lol

wouldn't need a new bomber...and the skip bombing could probably be done by coding a dot command for fuse delay.

You would need a specially modified bomber.

What do we know about specially modified things in this game?

Skip bombing? I suppose.

Skip bombing was actually first used during the Guadalcanal campaign by B-17s of the 63rd BS using delayed fuses.

However, if you don't do it right:

you would at least have to edit the lanc III we have now, it had no true bomb doors, no mid-upper turret, (it was a modified lanc III after all) a "bouncing bomb spinning-mechanism" :lol spotlights to tell you how high, and the aircraft was named G for George-but thats just a new skin. there was also the reason for a bouncing bomb instead of just a couple of torps-- TORPEDO NETS-->we'd need to incorporate those too, somehow.

The purpose of skipping any trajectory, is just as they taught us with shotguns, if you aim on the ground the buck shot will bounce, stay near the ground & Take out the feet & ankles. With aircraft the bounce ensures it will hit near the water line, even id your aim ain't perfect.  :old:
