Title: A couple questions
Post by: pembquist on December 08, 2010, 05:08:31 PM
How do I identify vh?  How do I know that a hangar is down? I there a printable map of the arena? Is there a system to numbering of the bases? (sometimes I can't seem to find a base by number.)  Thanks for your help, I tried searching the forums but after I came across "stop dropping fhs" my appetite for reading seemed to dry up.  Oh, one more question, what is a good way to neutralize ack for the uncoordinated?

Repetition our new friend, repetition.....

The VH is the small green hanger.  You will get used to all of it eventually, it just takes time.  You can also look at the maps if you right click the clipboard, all the way down and select the maps option.

If it's on fire, it's down, sometimes there is no fire but it's still down, looking "destroyed."

If you look in your Aces High folder, there's a folder labeled "maps"  There's printable versions of the base types in there.

Base numbers are kinda wacky.  You can use the .move XXX  (X's being the base number) to move to friendly bases while in the tower.  Enemy bases are a bit confusing at times, but if you ask for the grid sector you'll be able to find it quickly.

Ack, just about anything will do the trick.  Just make sure that if all the guns are firing, plot a course that will take you over the fewest number of them.  De-acking solo can be rough.

You can check the status of hangers, ordnance, fuel, barracks, etc., of any field by placing your cursor over the field icon, then right clicking to display an advanced menu. Select the "(icon)fieldnumber Status."

Right click on the + and - icons on the top pf the clipboard (or use the = and - keys on keyboard) to zoom in or out on the map. Right click on the map to turn off any icons or information if your want to reduce some clutter on the map. You can "grab" the map and move it around by pointing cursor at some blank area of the map and hold left click on your mouse.

De-acking is a learned technique, like anything else in the game. Expect to be shot up.
- start at the outside of a field and don't go straight across the entire field.
- stay fast and descend toward the ack in relatively shallow angle. "Walk" your rounds into the ack.
- a small burst of cannons will destroy the ack. Don't wait for the graphics to show the explosion, move on to next ack.
- stay low and fast on your egress from the field until far enough away to climb out and reverse for your next run.

You don't need to search the BBS for for all your questions. The information is available at Game Help here  (Help) (http://www.hitechcreations.com/Help-Section/Gettng-Started/aces-high-help-start.html), or at the Trainers information here  (Trainers) (http://trainers.hitechcreations.com/).

Re: Deacking, I find it also helps to jink back and forth just a little when you're zooming away, especially if there are manned guns firing.  I'd recommend going in with missions until you get the hang of it.  As far as spotting the guns goes, on a mission you can hang back a bit and watch where the guns are firing from to help pinpoint their location if you're having trouble.

when you're zooming away from a field, just stay shallow.......makes it harder for the ack to hit ya.
