Is that a dirt runway airfield in the middle of, what looks like, Paju?
-
It's a fanciful representation of Seoul with a V-base on the north edge. So yes, that's a dirt runway not meant for jets but GV spotter planes to guide guys to the ground fight among the Town buildings.
-
A few more for you guys that are stuck at work or whatever
V36... Outstanding

First landing at 36.. yes it's dirt

Yes you can fly under those bridges
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v99/dichotomy/Korea%20First%20Night/underthebridge2.jpg)
Kind of spooky though

THANK YOU EASY!!!!
-
lol, so that's what you were doing.
-
I wanted to find out where the 'other' good times were ;)
Oh, on a serious note, you GV guys will absolutely love this map. Just my jaunt around the city revealed a number of hiding places and good spots to snipe from. I'll let yall find the Vbases yourselves. Suffice it to say the knife fights on the ground can be epic.

If this doesn't bring MA'ers in to the AvA, I do not know what will. Bravo, AvA team.

Jet week in the AVA
Korea
While this setup is in no way, even close, it will
give you a bit of background and will be a fun setup.
the planes we need are not available, so this is as
close as we could get. while not realistic as far as planes
go, it should be a fun setup for all. Merry christmas from
the AVA staff and crew!
Special thanks go out to skuzzy for getting this terrain up
in time for this week and to Easyscor for making it.
The Korean War was the first conflict in which jet aircraft
fought each other. (Both the Luftwaffe and the RAF had
operational jets in WWII, but they never came into
direct conflict.) Most jet battles took place near the
Yalu River, in the airspace over north-western North Korea
known as "MiG alley." The UN forces generally retained
air superiority throughout most of the war, and air
power helped compensate for the Communists' superior
numbers on the ground.
The general lack of permanent runways in Korea
hindered the use of jet aircraft and bombers,
forcing the Allies to use piston aircraft.
The F-51 Mustang was the most numerous Allied
aircraft in the early months of the war.
In November of 1950, the first of the MiG-15
aircraft appeared, and was able to outperform
all Allied fighters until the introduction of
the F-86 Sabre. The Sabre was arguably slightly
inferior to the MiG-15, but the veteran American
pilots eventually produced a kill ratio of
approximately 12:1 in their favour. Many of
these aerial dogfights took place in the
northwestern corner of Korea, a place given
the name 'Mig Alley' by Allied pilots.

Ummm, someone took the time to make a Korea map. Yet we don't have any Korean War era aircraft?
Yet. :noid

:rofl :aok
Time to fess up gents. Who was the 262 pilet?
-
Gotta say..... No enemy icons is rather interesting. I got a PC w/ me that aint great.... Black square heading towards me, no definition. Get within 2K(ish) and can make out wings. Get in 1k range and I can see control movement..........
It is dam exciting!

AvA put the fun back in the game for me, you play in there for awhile and it will make you a better stick, no doubt about it

I have some films that I'd like to post screenshots from. I have no clue on how to do that. Any advice is appreciated.
-
easiest way to do it is open a photo editing program then roll the film in the AH viewer. When you find a shot you like pause it, hold control down and push the 'print screen' button. Go to your photo editing program and hold down control and push the 'v' key. That should put the shot in your editor and you can crop it down to just the screen. If you want to take the default icons out click the 'icons' button in the AH viewer twice.
Hope this helps.
-
Going to give it a whirl today!
I like jets! :airplane:
-
Had a blast last night. I got in the arena to find the rooks vastly outnumbered and the knights hovering above the base. So I upped rook. Against two to one odds, us rooks used our superior piloting abilities to push the knights back into their ack, where they remained.
-
Also, I noticed the RV-8 had some type of custom skin on them. What is it of? I had made a few passes at AAjeager who was flying one, but never got a good look at it.
-
The RV8 skin is pure fantasy. I wanted a spotter for the guys that get lost in Tank Town, and yellow wasn't going to cut it, but it does still have Dale's name on it. ;)
I wish I could kill the shininess, but we can't do that with our terrain tools.
Surprisingly, all those guys saying the want a place for GV battles seem to be ignoring this. With only jets enabled, I'd think the V36 (Seoul) area would be their dream come true.
-
Hey Buster!
Can you re-initialize the arena and do a complete setup? It really needs it, all the object types have been scrambled.
-
I can't, when I cancelled my account a few months back, I lost my privs. Hoping to get them back here soon.
-
Were the tables created offline? Never heard of it affecting soft objects.
-
afaik, no tables were ever created, but I can't say for sure. I am pretty sure it was never reinitialized after Skuzzy built it.
-
i was in a town last night in a t34 everytime i destroyed a building it would either say, troop bunker destroyed, gun emplacement destroyed, fuel supply destroyed, i figured something wasnt right, ack killed my main gun and slowly killed off my T34, i thought the Ack was softer than in the MA's, its deadly :O
-
We'll get it fixed. Just needs time for someone to save the tables and start over.
-
New map rocks!
New GV fighting area should be full of those who whine about Gv fights without ord!
and Free jets rock!
Why is there no one there? just spent two hours in there and maybe 4 players total!
HTC could you somehow ,, accidentally close all other arena's for a bit? LOL
Really looking forward to a good GV fight in there later!!!!
-
PM some of your GV buddies and start a war!!!!
*shrug* it's what I'd do anyway. I think some people follow me around out of morbid curiosity.
-
maybe we could get shegotya to load twin rivers in the SEA and have jeep wars with 109E's to strafe, now that would be fun!

*perks up*
Jeeps? did you say Jeeps!!!!
My favorite stealth vehicle.
WWhiskey..
I really think the GV guys would love this map. Aspect of the game I've never done much except in offline mode but it looks to me like it offers good opportunities. :aok
-
the city seoul is awesome in this map and would make for a great tank town. ive set up the arena with RV8 so they could fly as spotter pilots. maybe somebody should get a GV battle rolling in there!
-
I need some more competition. I got bored after landing 24 unanswered kills in 2 sorties.
-
man, you need a hobby! :D
-
Grizz left as soon as he saw me enter the arena........guess he didn't want 25 unanswered kills. :neener
