...and I'm thinking, "Okay, the graphics are pretty much the same as AH....Oh! He's saddling up on a Val. Done that....that too....yeah...been winchester in an FM2, which is annoying...."
Flash forward to this afternoon and all of a sudden I have a "Dogfight" narrator in my head while I'm flying.
"...the Lancasters are here....Muzzy is here. There's only one chance for Muzzy to intercept the bombers before they can drop their payload. He has to fly right...down...their...throats."
I know, I know, I should have kept the film...

i downloaded series on itunes

I do the voice sometimes when I am playing, out of boredom :D

"when all of a sudden, 30mm cannon shells are lobbed in his direction. its an FW-190 rigth behind him! Wildcat must try a manuver that has become unique to the P-38- the double-immelman turn.
Wildcat is here, the pursuing 190 is here. Wildcat will speed up to 330 mph and perform an immelman turn. just as he finishes the first, he will engage flaps and do another immelman, in the hopes that the 190 has stalled out behind him.
he fears that the 190 has kept with him, but he peers out the cockpit and sees the Focke-Wulf- spinning out of control below! he dives down to it, takes careful aim, and fires
Wildcat1 just downed his 3rd 190 of the day, and heads home to A77, low on fuel"
^^that was one of my more recent 38 sorties (recent as in september)

But you have to repeat it 3 times so everyone will remember what was going on between the commercial breaks.

[after like half a dozen useless commercials]
...."Muzzy is defending A44 against an onslaught of Knight attackers. A flight of Lancasters is approaching from the southeast. Now Muzzy must take them head on...before they devastate the base."
Muzzy Interview: Well I knew I didn't have time to swing around behind them, so the only thing I could do was try to take out the lead bomber in a head on pass.
"Muzzy closes with the enemy formation. At 1500 yards he pulls the trigger. 20 mm cannon shells tear through the lead bomber, ripping it apart in a shower of steel. Muzzy desperately pulls up to avoid the wreckage."
Muzzy Interview: "I could hear something scrape the underside of my plane and all I could think was...boy I hope I still have my landing gear."
"There are two bombers left. Muzzy loops his Focke Wulf over the top and comes down on the formation. The second bomber goes down in flames. Now Muzzy closes in on the last Lancaster. But at the last minute....the tail gunner opens fire at point...blank...range"
Muzzy Interview "I saw the tracers coming at me and I thought...boy, I hope I can get him before he gets me."
"Bullets slam into Muzzy's engine. A shower of oil spatters his cockpit, obscuring his view. He's firing almost blind, hoping to land a fatal hit."
Muzzy Interview: "I was looking through my windscreen and trying to get my guns on his wing root. I was thinking...boy, I sure hope I can hit his wing root."
[Impressive Lancaster Graphic]
"The wing root of a Lancaster is its weakest point. A well-placed shot with an incendiary round can penetrate the fuel lines and burn through the fragile frame, separating the wing from the plane. But Muzzy must find this vulnerable spot not only through an oil-soaked windscreen, but through a hail of enemy bullets. More rounds tear through his engine, destroying the Focke Wulf's fragile radiator."
Muzzy Interview: "I thought...boy, there goes my radiator...."
"But then...a lucky shot...the Lancaster's wing root explodes!"
Muzzy Interview: "I thought...boy, that was a lucky shot!"
"It's Muzzy's third kill of the day. But with his engine damaged, he knows he must somehow land his plane."
Muzzy Interview: "I thought...boy, somehow I must land this plane."
"But the only field within range is under heavy attack. And with no oil....no radiator....and trailing a plume of white smoke...Muzzy's wounded fighter is a prime target...for Knight vulchers!"

Not to mention pause and go to commercial then recap when you return.

Muzzy, has but 1 chance to stop the dastardly Lancstukas, from dropping their 30k pay load. Only 200 feet above sea level all while not being touched by fire from the paper mache carrier. In the end Muzzy scores 3 victories of the bomb in bail lancs. Yet now has nowhere to land them. :D

I loathe that!

THIS
I stopped watching the show because of this and the "Here and here" crap. I also watched an episode of Stormchasers last week. I'm sorry, but I don't need a recap/preview of upcoming events 16 times a show. Without those recaps etc, that hour show lasts 15 minutes.

Well nerds with camera's. :D I like the show buy wow that Imax guy is a tool.

What is with the camera shaking when an aircraft whizzes by? A simulation of the fight doesn't need all that damn drama.

You should have seen the Kamikaze episode, it was funny seeing crappy looking CGI bomber crew bailing out. I guess they spent all of their money on the aircraft CGI portions.
ack-ack

Worst part is none of the control surfaces ever moved, talk about tight budget..
-
i downloaded it on itunes no commercials, old pilots on it were interesting maybe more of them talking.
-
I like the old pilot part .. There was an old man a few house's down from me that died last year and come to find out he was a WWII pilot and I did not even know it . Man , I would have spent all my day over there talking to him if I would have know that .
-
One of my frequent customers at our book store is a former B-24 pilot. He brought in a picture of his crew to show me one day. Always has a story to tell me. Plus, he told me what the proper landing speed of a 24 is, (around 100mph indicated). Saved me a ton of crashes.

I found out the other weekend that one of the "Memphis Belle" crew lived right down the road before he died! :O
