This girl can blow......... :)
In this new recording, Alison Balsom, the 2009 Classical BRIT Artist of the Year, plays popular concertos on the trumpet. They were originally composed for the violin or oboe by Vivaldi, Tartini, B. Marcello, Albinoni and Cimarosa, accompanied by the Scottish Ensemble.

Firebird Suite... Ahh yes. That brings back fond old memories. When I was in high school, we played a "Fire Show" theme and the Firebird Suite was our encore song. Please watch the video of my marching band as we performed at the State Championships. I was a Freshman during this time and played the trumpet.

Its a lovely piece of music, very emotional and complex. I love it more than any other classical piece.
I also disarmed the Girlfriend ack by telling her (truthfully) that it makes me think of her when I hear it.

Surprised no one's mentioned Johann Sebastian yet. I love his cello suites.
You still hear Bach's Prelude from Suite No.1 in G Major frequently on TV and commercials.
