Title: Reduce Multiple "Check Six" Calls Into A Single Call
Post by: katanaso on December 09, 2010, 03:11:21 PM
How about a change so that if a rapid succession of "Check Six" calls are received in a certain period of time, say 1 second, you only hear a single "Check Six" instead of the actual number that are sent?

I appreciate multiple warnings from people, and I try to give them as often as possible, but it may be easier for a single "Check Six" instead of several in a row.

I generally say a thank you over Vox for any amount, whether it's one or ten.

Thoughts?

Damn you Mir!

If this comes to pass I'll have to think of another way to amuse myself while we're on climb out.

Who decides how long the "wait" is?  You check 6 somebody and in 5 seconds they need another check 6 but because, not only you, but four other people gave a check 6 call, your 2nd, needed 6-call doesn't go because the game thinks it's just another call from the first time.

Does that make sense?

This isn't chess, it's air combat........... One half second too early, you don't quite kill it, one half second too late and you don't quite live...........  The game is a series of moments, not minutes.

Say within 1/4th of a second of each other.  My original post used 1 second as an arbitrary example.  You sort of took it all out of context.  :)

Oh, let me clarify further -- I think the messages should still appear on the screen in white text.

However, multiple "Check Six" calls might just be for one bandit diving on the field, not for multiple bandits swarming around you.

No I feel you on it but you have to remember, even the default 6 call takes a full second, some of the sound pack 6's go even longer than that.    :salute

Gotcha.  I didn't take that into consideration.

It would be interesting to test to see if the simultaneous warnings can become queued up for a player.  Say I'm in a busy area, and seven people give me a "Check Six" at nearly the same time, would it actually play seven messages if I'm using a custom sound pack that has longer messages, say the German or British styles?

:salute

You just made me think of a different path though............  What if the game "sees" 5   6-calls in a row or even just 2....... Make it a chorus sounding voice(s)?  Just as if multiple people said it at the same time.

That would be pretty cool.  Instead of a calm message, perhaps something more frantic with multiple voices, like you stated. :)

No way!  Since half of the people run, it's best to get in front of them to make them fight you as they try to pass!   :neener:

A reverberated recording of Soulyss' "Oh God!" could work as the Check Six call though...   :lol
