Alright I know that this has been said before but the PBY was one of the most important planes of the war. It could carry troops and be a new transport plus it had light defenive armament so it would have some protection.
Also the PBY was known to go on bombing missions and could carry 4000Ib of bombs. Now i know 4000 isnt a heavy load but it should be able to take off from ports NOT from CV like some people say.
Now MANY people want it to rescue pilots and I know this was its primary role but that idea seems impractical for this game and I do not think that should be added for sake of saving HTC from having to figure out how that would work and people never doing it.
<S> Just my thoughts.

I'd love to see a seaplane implemented. Would be very fresh! +1
-
+1 but, I think it would be more used if we had the version w/ landing gears
-
+1, Ive been wanting seaplanes in the game for a long time.
-
haha i say +1 BUT only if it cant land on water lol, no need for the pby, your topic is interesting but come on the need for a rescue plane versus any midwar or early war or any plane or vehicle doesnt compare. Sry but im guna have to say no to this. And even if it did have something of defensive guns, what would or could it kill.

PBYs weren't used as troop transports, in the transport role it was limited to light cargo.

A PBY without the ability to land on water is like a cow without udders.

PBY-5 = no landing gear.
PBY-5A = wheels.

What's that hook hanging off the PBY in the top picture? I first thought it was an antenna of some sort, but it looks like they're trying to grab something from the ground.

Yes, they're both 5As. Gear up and gear down.
PBY-5:

See the wheels on the ramp? Beaching gear.

Both 5s.
Beaching gear off and beaching gear on.

Just found out from here: http://www.zianet.com/tmorris/argentia.html (http://www.zianet.com/tmorris/argentia.html)
They were using it to pick up outbound mail from a US Coast Guard station somewhere in Canada.

:lol very true! But you have to admit, it is quite a fascinating and pretty sitting duck. :aok

I want a Black Cat loadout option. Some of those mounted fixed forward 20mm cannon.

yes i will admit, but like i said it doesnt compare with what we do need in the game

Personally, I'd like to see a PBY put into the game with the caveat that it be able to lift from a port.
It'd be an interesting addition and could be used for recce runs. The furballers would like it as it'd be
an easy piece of meat for 'em.

Black Cat with the 20mm cannon in the nose field mod. Though, I believe this was the only one.

Another Black Cat with quad .50s in the nose. The top picture the guns are hard to see but they are visible. 2nd and 3rd picture show a better view of the configuration.

We'd also need an ordnance load out of beer bottles for the Black Cat.
