A dirty copy & paste :
This "hack" really improves your Web Browsing. Web pages will appear more quickly in IE. This will improve Modem Users, ISDN also ASDL and cable to a degree.
So how does it work... IE 4 and 5 are designed to work the HTML protocol 1.1. This tells the web browser not to draw more than 2 streams of data from a server at one time.. Your browser is designed to grab a lot more
Ok to do this feat of Magic we need to use the REGEDIT Command (If you are wary of using this command then do not attempt this tweak)
1.
Go to the Start button, then to run and type in REGEDIT
There is alot of stuff here.. ignore it all and go straight to...
2.
HKEY_Current_User>Software>Microsoft>Windows>
CurrentVersion>Internet Settings...
3.
Now look at the list in the right hand window.. See if there are 2 strings called MaxConnectionsPerServer and MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server
I doubt there is, but if there is go to part 5 of this...
To add these keys to the registry...
4.
Right click your mouse in the white space in the right hand Regedit window in the Internet Settings directory you are in at the moment. Select NEW> DWORD Value ... type in ....
MaxConnectionsPerServer as the strings name, then hit enter(Return), then repeat the above process but this time type in
MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server as the strings name, hit enter(Return).
Ok so we have now entered 2 new keys in to registry
Now....
5.
Right Click on MaxConnectionsPerServer..... click on modify... Enter a value of 6 and click decimal.
Now do the same for MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server and enter a value of 8 and click decimal.
There is no need to reboot...
Does this work you ask yourself!
OH YES!!!
I have ADSL, so web pages loaded pretty well to begin with. After the tweak, pages seem to load even snappier. I've only tested this for a few minutes this morning, so I can't quantify it.
I was wondering if anyone with a 56k modem has tried this tweak?

I tried...
IT WORKS!!! :)
I have a modem connection and the speed is doubled!
TKS a lot for the tweak, mate! :D

Thanks m8!!!!

Trying it out now. :)

Ghosth, Would you check for any possible packet loss in the AH connection after doing this tweak? - I don't know how check it. There shouldn't be any problem, but I'd like to know... thanks.

WOW! Huge difference! Yea! need to know if there is a change to AH.
:)
-
Heh, I had it already at 16 decimal :)
I suggest visiting www.speedguide.net (http://www.speedguide.net) for those of you with broadband connections, plenty of patches and registry tweaks there!
Have fun!

All you are doing with this tweak is changing the browser, not your cable, dsl, or dial-up. It should make no difference whatsoever to AH (unless of course HTC decides to take the WWIIO approach and launch through a web browser).
