Title: Re: Tonight
Post by: CAP1 on December 12, 2010, 10:06:07 PM
to be honest, they're very easy to beat. i've beaten 2 of em very handily. the third, i've not managed to "trap" into a 1-1. one of the two that i have fought, has always been nice to me whether he won or lost.

the key, when someone annoys you, is the same in here as it is in real life. use their own tactics against em. it works surprisingly well. trust me i know. i've beaten the zoning guys in the town i live in many times over 40 years....by using their own tactics and rules against em.....and done the same in the town my shop is in.  :devil

im not a jet guy either, im flying them like and F4U....  not doing to bad i guess.   They have a hard on for me, have since the day they came into the arena.  i have no problem shooting them down, guess i just wasnt in the mood last night.  i normally just squelch all of them

i keep trying to fly the 262 like i do the p-38. i do kinda ok in it. like i mentioned in the other thread, paleoguy, and saj73 both handed my bellybutton to me a few times in knife fights. i'd assume that they fly this plane a lot in lw, because of how easily they did it.
i was finding a very weird stall in the 262 on sat. night too.......

on the plus side, i can land it, if i survive long enough.

i did have one dood that ran to ack.....co-alt merge about 5k agl....fight went to the deck, he lost his advantage, and bee-lined right for his base. i considered vulching him on landing, just because he ran, but jaeger1 talked me out of it. it probably paid off, as i had one chasing me, as i rtb'd low fuel.....and i ran out about 2 miles from base. it turned out it was saj chasin me, and he broke offr.

Funny how the ladies in question constantly complain about other players and their "lame moves" then turn around & do the same thing.  Btw, we (AH players) are all "skill-less retards" just in case any of you are wondering what is wrong with yourself. :cry

Like i said, for over a month I just did the squelch and be done with it.  I was having a great long night of play and unfortunatly i let them get to me this time.  Should have just squelched them but didnt.  I figured the month of ignoring they may have moved on, guess i was wrong.

when i fly a 262 in those conditions i fly it somewhat like a 51 i guess... i use heavy flaps in some of those flights, i even kick flaps to full in some because you need to remember that when in a turnfight, the flaps make you turn more. one notch around turns, and over the top sometimes to full. I hang em sometimes like in a 38, ZnB like in a 51, flap turnfight like in almost any plane. ive done this in MAs also. Most pilots dont expect this style of fighting in a 26 so it will be your advantage... i think you saw my 8 kill streak landing :D

yea i did.......think i landed 2 once.......think i landed 2 or 3 times.  :rofl

i was getting some weird stalls if i went more than 2 notches of flaps comin over the top........

i never really pulled straight over the top if i could because the 262's engines have a very slow acceleration and it can pull strange loops at very low speeds and enemies could catch me easily if i wasnt lined up on one or so when pulling the maneuver...

Thank you CAP for your kind words, but to be honest I never flew the 262 much. I just don't have the perks to fly one in any other arena, I flew 2 nights in 262's the last time they were up in AvA though. That's the longest period I have been in them, but I have to say this last night it was really starting to get fun at the end. Even if the time was about 6AM here in Norway at the end and I was way too tired to have full focus on my flying. It still was getting more and more fun the more sorties I was flying, and the more intense the fights got.  :aok

Think I started to get a pretty good feel for the 262's flaps, slow trottle response, and general handling in a tight fight at the end of this night. At first the plane was like flying a 18wheeler loaded with timber, only possible to accelerate downhill, and even harder to slow down or turn fast corners. But after some sorties I figured it out, and it started to behave more and more like a fighter plane rather than a timber hauler..  :lol

The noise was the only thing I never got used to.. Was flying with my headset as usual, and when I finally went to bed I had a terrible headache and a jetsound singing in my head for hours after..  Note to self: remember to turn down the sound a notch next time!  :noid

But I have to <Salute> you CAP for those great fights we had, and jaeger1 also. I was chasing him around quite a few times, but he was too slippery for me. And suddenly he vanished against the ground, only to appear on my 6 with blazing guns two sec later..  :O :joystick:

Great fun, in fact one of the very best nights I've had in this game for a very very long time!  :salute

and that sir is what makes this arena so special to me.

i've had more than one occasion that i've lost the con against the ground....and i've used that to my advantage a couple of times too.

ya hafta watch out for jaeger too. he offers to escort ya home, then waits till ya feel comfortable with an enemy plane flying a little behind ya....then he puts beer cans in a slingshot, and pops ya.  :O :noid

hope to see you back in here more sir. i get the impression you'd be a good fun fight no matter what you're flying......and apparently some of us will learn a lot from ya too.

The 262's are fun for the three sorties I flew one.  I just prowled around like a shark, belly to the grass, pop up and kill someone low on E and then back into the grass, prowl around for someone else.  When I say in the grass I was doging trees most of the time, almost hit a few while looking up :lol.  My small monitor makes it hard for to track targets close to the ground so the tactic worked for me, since everything was up.  My mechanics were happy no lost or damaged aircraft and all came back with two kills.

If you think your 19" is too small BigRat, perhaps you'd like to try my 15" laptop for a few sorties in there..   :P

Think I know what you are talking about when you say targets getting hard to track close to ground, that is really one of my biggest issues playing this game. That and my frps issues, that's mostly related to my poor videocard I think.

Really looking forward to the day I can play this game on a real game puter, then I will sit in the middle of the living room infront of my 46" flatscreen with a very big grin on my face!  :D

But I think the 46" flatscreen will be quite good too, if I just had a pc that could handle to run it. Its a 100hrtz full HD lcd, and I tested it with a cable from my laptop. The picture was awesome, but my laptop froze so it was impossible for me to play with it..  :cry

Yes, actually I know the AvA pretty good.  :)
I started going in there during this last year, but been a paying and playing customer of AH since the start of -07 I think it was.

About euro friends, I don't know any other euro guys playing AH. I've tried to get a few in, but they are just not grasping it.
Guess it just is not for everybody, they are getting their share of fun with WOW, EVE or other games I don't grasp myself..  :P

I am not surprised you guys don't know who I am tho.. I have mostly been playing in the DA the first years of my playtime, and have only been in MA for some random sorties now and then for the change of scenario. Not enough to get noticed by anyone in other words. And with my lame scores I am not the guy people take notice of either.  ;)

But I know most of you guys, from reading the forums and playing the MA.   :salute  :aok

No offense intended, just reciprocating the mutual repsect you show me so often. ;) I didn't want Dicho getting too carried away explaining the arena to somebody that visits it regularly.  Immediate action was called for on your part because you were patting yourself on the back so hard I was afraid you'd dislocate your shoulder.

Ty sir.   It was a whole new game on that screen.  The size of everything was crazy.  Funny thing is the system actually cost me less then a 50" tv at the time.  Being a finish carpenter i was able to build the screen for under $200, retail for that size and quality was over $2000 at the time.  The projector was only $900, full 720 HD.
