Title: Patch
Post by: Ghosth on December 13, 2010, 04:11:22 PM
Added new player submitted title art for this version.  Thanks to Kazaa for the art submission.
Added the Panther tank.  Special thanks to Greebo for the skin.
Added the G4M1 bomber.  Again thanks to Greebo for the skin.
Added the a new host system variable that controls how much of the town needs to be destroyed before it can be captured.  There is a flag flying in each town that will be swapped out for a white surrender flag when the damage threshold is reached.  At that point troops can be used to make the capture.  The initial setting will be at 50% and we'll adjust it from there if needed.

Fixed an error in the M8 shape that would cause a round to pass through without damage if it struck straight on at the base of the turret.

Fixed an error in the Panzer's damage that could result in a round passing through without damage.   Also fixed another error in the Panzer where a very small section of the rear top of the tank was not properly armored.

Fixed a bug that could cause a crash when using low detail graphics mode and viewing a lot of smoke particles.
Fixed a voice playback bug that would cause the last part of someone's transmission to cut out.
You now automatically jump to the driver's position when you resupply your vehicle.
Film viewer now correctly saves the y axis viewpoint in camera world view mode.
Force feedback effects are now cleared after jumping to a drone bomber.
Fixed a sorting error the 50 cal gunsights on the PT Boat.
You now see the correct skin the pilot has selected when you gun on his plane.
Fixed an LoD issue on a windmill that caused it to disappeared at long range.
Fixed a bug that caused admin broadcasts to all arenas not to show in the arena they originated in.
Fixed a bug that caused vehicles to lurch when placed in gear with the engine off.
An old bug that caused drones to warp positions when the lead plane in a formation was killed should now be fixed.
Added an error message when a film save fails.
Fixed a bug that could cause icons to sometimes disappear from certain views when you were in a tracked vehicle.

Fixed a bug that caused the guns on top of the flak towers to be almost impervious to blast damage.  Also found the 88mm's were mistakenly tagged as armored.
Engine stack shadows on the Mosquito XVI now disappear when the wing is destroyed.
Fixed a sorting error on the SBD dive brakes.  Also fixed a damage visual on the horizontal stab of the SBD.
Air show smoke on the Ar 234 now displays correctly.
Bf 110's were missing MP and RPM needles for #2 engine.
Caibrated flap gauges on various Japanese planes.
Fixed a couple of LoD issue in the B-17.

Just to harp on nomenclature a little- this is a new version, not a patch.  New versions increment the version number and start off on Patch 0.  Patches just increment the patch number.  Versions add new stuff in addition to fixes while patches just contain fixes with some occasional small exceptions tossed in.  For example, you would never see a new plane released in a patch.  That would only come in a new version.

Fixed--"An old bug that caused drones to warp positions when the lead plane in a formation was killed should now be fixed."

Praise Jesus! This was sooo annoying, especially when one of those warping drones magically collides with you and kills you.

What exactly made the new settings so much better than the old?
(No, this is not a trick question, I'm simply curious :))

We like the new settings for capturing a field; being able to see if the flag is white, meaning it's is ready for capture is a great addition for both the defenders and the attackers.

Wow!  Thanks for the update....still getting all my stuff setup to get back in the main arenas but I will be up soon!  Nothing but time to get the hardware/software all setup correctly!  I really like the idea of the flag in the town.  Makes things easier than wondering if there is a building up somewhere that someone misses!

Ok, point taken. And if you'd posted it in the News section I wouldn't have had to. And we wouldn't be having a discussion about terms.

Now is  that settled ?

I'm not trying to pick on you Ghosth, I just used this as an opportunity to point out the difference in terms that have a distinct meaning to us but are frequently interchanged in the community.  It's not the only set of distinct terms that get interchanged frequently.

Took the time to go external view and look at the Panther. Fantastic. More detail than I've seen on any other tank. You can actually see weld marks that join the steel slabs on the turret. And the cut marks on the ends of the plates. Tremendous quality in that model.

Congratulations on a fine, fine piece of work.  :salute

My bad Pyro, sorry if I came across short.

You are correct that a Patch is different than a release.
And I guess I was frustrated that no one had bothered to post the changes in News or apparently on the HTC Home page. If its there I guess I missed it.

What does this mean:

Fixed a couple of LoD issue in the B-17.

I think LoD means level of detail.. But I could be wrong..
