I bought this a year ago so I don't really want to go out and buy a whole new one any time soon. I was wondering what I could do to upgrade this without getting to spendy. I works fine for AH and anything else I've played so far. The only trouble I have is my FR can get down into the low 30's in the smoke and stuff on AH. Here's my system:
AMD ATHLON 700MHZ
ATHLON MB, GIGABYTE GA-71X
DIMM16X64 PC100
CD-ROM, 50X AFREEY (Getting rid of this. It wont read all my games. Something in the firmware the manufacturer says.)
3.5" FLOPPY 1.44 MB
WINDOWS 98 SE
SOUNDBLASTER LIVE VALUE
ASUS G FORCE V-6600
IBM 20GB UDMA IDE HARD DRIVE.
I just went down the receipt and listed what was on there. I don't know a lot about it so if you need to much more info I will be at a loss more than likely. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif) Thx for the input.

Step one, put in another 64 megs of ram. I do not know if windows is still militant about mixed ram types so if you can match the stick you have that would be cheapest. If not buy 2 pc133 matched sticks (prolly about $100}.
Next you could attempt to over clock for a bit more speed. I don't know offhand what the OC capabilities of your cpu and MB are but most hardware sites have guides and are fairly foolproof if you follow the destruction's (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif) exactly.
Send me a email if you wish and I will give you any help that I can.

Get the Latest Nvidia drivers, also download powerstrip from cnet so you can overclock your video card. As far as overclocking your chip, you have a very old MoBo using irongate north and south bridges. You could buy a golden finger device but don't bother because you can get a 800mhz tbird with abit card for around $300 and can overclock it to 1.1 gigs.........
