Haven't been many probs with DX8 and Aces High, specially once Roger Wilco is changed to WAV recording instead of DirectSound (probs with SB cards and DX8).

I did today install DX 8.1 (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
no problems so far..
I don't think theres such thing as a MS certified driver thats not made by MS...
About every driver I've used, has not been "MS certified"
TNT2 drivers, ATI Radeon drivers, SB drivers, monitor drivers........

running DX8a...no problems, might even run better.

I wouldn't expect it SG. Between MS and SB it could be years before an update surfaces. Any SoundBlaster card made after 1997 or so uses the same chipset, so I like to hope the sheer number of them will spur a fix, but I don't hold out much hope.

1. Download the latest version of your sound card drivers. Video drivers too. Mainboard chipset drivers too.
2. Install DX 8.0a.
3. Install the new drivers you downloaded.
That should do it. If you are using RW be sure to set it to use Wav recording if you use DX8.

I've read this soooooo many times now that I feel I have to comment =)
This is an over generalisation. I've been using Direct Sound recording with a couple of SoundBlaster Live! cards with both DirectX 7 & 8 and had no problems whatsoever.
The Live! is a very different beast than the old SoundBlaster 16 based cards (AWE, etc).

Yeah, it's reportedly the EMU10K1 chip, which is pci512 and all SBLive models.

I noticed , rather LACKED and notice of a change to indicate that I has DX8.0a installed.
I can only surmise that I have 8.0a since I downloaded it on 4/3/01 and it's size matches
the file that is currently up on
the DX d/l page, which has a date of late last year.
