What will happen when AH aces, and only them, will be able to fly the best a/c of the hangar ... what are goin to do guys with no more points available to fly them?
Do they have to wait the next TOD?
Are they going to act like ace's targets?
Are they going to fly only Spitfire IX against TA-152, Spitfire XIV and P-47M flown by the best aces around?
I mean, the difference between aces and average players will be bigger. And no, I dont think that AcesHigh means that only good players should fly very good a/c.
AH has rather steep learning curve: is this a system to expand the players base or a rewarding system for the best scoring guys?
Plz explain me.

Hey Gatt.
It´s lonly at the top.
Every plane can be death to you when you fly around in that hard earned Ta 152. If you loose it you loose it for a good while.
I hope the score goes only for the "quakebirds"
Dont ya dare touch my newpainted 205!!!

Crabo, buddy,
I dont care for me, I'm used to fly in a conservative way. I care for average (and less than) players. I'm afraid they'll loose the interest to play in an elite-arena, where they'll never have enuff time to learn how to survive against late war monsters.
Heck, we survive flyin the C.205 against sissy-fires and cannon-hogs! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
P.S.: now I want to see all those "I dont give a damn of the score" guys (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

You have a point there, gatt.
But things has to move on. I will not fly any "quakers" I will become a "quake" hunter !!
I think that thoose guys will have a harddeck at 15k so fly underneath that, no problem....LOL

I hope that a "bonus" or "super" plane is a single sortie only type of deal.
As in after acumulationg 1000 points after one-hundred missions gives you the right to fly a super plane. If you acidentally hit the return-to-tower button instead of the engine start key...thats it. That was your single sortie. Time to go score 1000 again.

If you did it and lived, you probably did it right.
-
FWIW, i think this is a bad idea. AH has a very small planeset compared to some others. If only a small percentage of players are allowed to use them. Adding new planes wont mean a hell of a lot to new players.
-
We'll have to wait and see; I'm sure the system will be tweaked to avoid that syndrome. My guess is those "hot rods" will be hard to come by, and hard to keep; in the best of setups, they'll exist as an incentive for smart flying, and as a marketing boost: here's a (hypothetical) way to introduce überplanes in the arena (and the huge market for that) without turning the MA into the "Me262 fantasy arena". I don't fear flights of Jet-Torques prowling the arena, skewering newbies. Hell, he only does that now 'cos there's no penalty for ditching his hawg (j/k).
Besides, can you imagine how many points you'd get for shooting one down?
On the other hand, one dweeb could have an überplane, and go on a mean streak. Until, of course, I bounce his butt in a b26.
-
I think this is a good idea. I'm looking forward to seeing how it works! At last we will maybe see more life preserving tactics and less quakebirds. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

In that case you would just have made a safe landing, and could take off in your precious überplane again. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) OTOH, if you manage to taxi it to the hangar wall on your way to the runway - sorry man! I think it's a good idea. Some view this whole idea as an elitist ploy, denying the best from the masses. It's not denying anything, just making it harder. The criteria is not really shifting, because most players will have access to most aircraft. But for those who wish to fly realistically, then the door is open to fly the best, because once you get there you'll have to fly realistically, or lose your privelege.
And why is it a privelege? Because such planes would be truly unbalancing in the MA if allowed en masse.
Why allow such late-war wonders at all? Because it finally gives all us closet-historical-players a reason to survive sorties: we want to keep the keys to the car! And since there are no plans for an HA here (SEA aside), this gives the historical player a chance to happily fly amongst all the suicidal riff-raff (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
Actually, I'm eager to see just what it's like when two late-war drivers get into it with each other, now that they'll have their aircraft on the line. It should be very different then what we're seeing now. And I'm looking forward to it very much.

Totaly against it..cause it will lead away from the game objective.. and that is not to get the best score or coolest plane but to have a team effort and win!
Besides everytime one of the bonus planes get's airborne he'll probably face a dozen opponents who flock together just to get a pot shot at your Superplane. Don't think they'll last long.
On the other hand I don't care about uberplanes I'm convinced that any plane has his pros/cons especially when you get some experience flying them. For example, I've only flying for 3 weeks or so and started out in the spitIX cause I thought it handled the easiest in offline. Now I switched to the Nik2j and doubled my kill score in 5 days. Is this because the Niki is a better plane then the Spit? I don't think so, I probably got a lot better at flying and using the pro/cons of a particular aircraft.
Another example, I play a lot of Half-Life CounterStrike for the fast action. Everybody squeaking there about the AUG rifle, AWP sniper and the machine gun. Why? Cause they're uberguns, basicaly one hit deals. But I don't care I still rack up a 1 death/20 kills ratio with a Dessert Eagle pistol and the right attitude.
-
For me, it's not so much that I might get to fly an uber-plane, but that in order to keep that uber-plane, I'll need to bring it back to base. Also, becoming the target of non-ubers doesn't worry me, because a cautious attitude will take care of that, especially if friendly non-ubers are in the area.
I truly believe that this scheme will give a new meaning to realistic flying in AH, because anybody who gets the privelege to fly an uber-plane will have to fly with what would amount to cowardice in our own unrealistic, quaker-influenced MA.

Hah! How much do you see team effort in MA currently? And remember, different people do have different goals. I enjoy flying, killing and surviging but somebody else might like somthing else instead.
Besides everytime one of the bonus planes get's airborne he'll probably face a dozen opponents who flock together just to get a pot shot at your Superplane. Don't think they'll last long.
Well, if they don't last long, why are you totally against them? And if you kill one uberplane you are rewarded with trcuload of points and then you might get your own uberplane and you don't have to whine about them but you can actually fly one! You can bet your bellybutton that people - even entire squadrons - will hunt the guys with the fancy planes.
-
Funked, can you call realistic a bunch of Spit MkV organinzing a hunt to shoot down a TA-152 just to stop that guy from flying it or to get tons of points?
How can you pretend that guys are going to play with Zekes against P-47M? Everyone has the right to fly with the 109G2 only and has the right to use it against 1941-1942 fighters only. This is what I call a realistic sim.

I don t give a dam about scores!!
Im happy as long as I can fly around in a nice 205 full loaded ammo and filled up with fuel. Then, If im shoot down by a superior plane or pilot, it is ok. If I shoot down a superior Plane or pilot, then its awesome!
