Oh yeah.

"Sex sells."

“The results from this report show Tinseltown’s eagerness to not only objectify and fetishize young girls, but to sexualize them in such a way that real teens are led to believe their sole value comes from their sexuality," said PTC President Tim Winter. "This report is less about the shocking numbers that detail the sickness of early sexualization in our entertainment
culture and more about the generation of young girls who are being told how society expects them to behave."

In Japan the media that is available to the younger female audience does not portray them in actual sexual acts but rather on them being the target of sexual desire. US TV puts them as being not the target of it but rather direct participants (initiators).

Of course the media for older audiences does put young females in the role of participant but this media is not available on the airwaves (its like a premium cable channel you need to pay for) and when it appears on magazines its sold with the same caution as Hustler is sold on any store in the US.

Your handle and avatar comes from Strike Witches which is a perfect example. It has fanservice and the main characters are underage girls... the show is heavy on sexual-based humor like breast size envy and such.. but you dont see them behaving like sluts or actively going at each other in bed which is practically what live-actor media in the US portrays underage characters lately.

sex sells indeed... and where in Japan there is immense social pressure against improper sexual behavior there is practically none in the US.

Shocking or "schlocking" report?

PTC is withering and in financial trouble. So they whip out the
age old, conservative "morals" hysteria which harkens back to
the beginnings of motion pictures, radio and television to try
and drum up some lifeline.

WHAT i find particularily funny about crap like this, is that they keep trying to blame the kids actions on tv.

when i was in highschool, we had the normal cliques of kids....including those that dressed and acted like sluts. yet there wasn't too much tv to influence em in that direction back then.

Sluts are like cherry bombs, good for a bang once in a while, but nothing you'd keep close to your heart.
