Title: Game Booster anyone besides me noticed?
Post by: Dichotomy on December 20, 2010, 11:00:30 AM
What used to be a very useful piece of software has turned into just another bit of kludge?

Are you using the free version or the registered?  Just wondering.  I just saw a recent post considering to buy the registered version.  I had also considered this myself, due to the carrot dangled by gamebooster saying my system is not full tweaked.

Can you elaborate please?

I have it but it doesn't seem to help as much as it had originally. Sometimes my framerate is so bad I have to disable firewall and anti-virus just to play the game while running game booster.

the fully tricked thing from iobits is a trick to get you to buy it.  I bought into it and got the one year subscription.  really wasted my money since my puter didt work any faster.  as for tweeking your system, try blackviper.com.  at least you will know what got tweeked and undo it if you find problems.  with iobits, you will never know what it did and you cannot really reverse it.  the rest of you "have 10,000 problems" is just that the free version doesnt "inoculate" (whatever that means) your system.  not that you actually have a problem.  glary's does the same thing for free.

after I found out they have been stealing virus signature from malwarebytes, I uninstalled it.  but had so many problems I had to re-uninstall win7 for it to work right.  I get a feeling that when you uninstall it, it messes your system so you have to get it again.

the original one was pretty slick and seemed to work just fine then I took the upgrade to their new 'free' version and it seemed bloated and full of nonsense.  Looked at the purchase one and it seemed like they were going the way of Norton and just bloating the heck out of it when they had a nice simple program that worked fine before.  That makes me instantly suspicious so I deleted it.  My system runs just fine without that stuff anyway.

I have never understood people who would add bloat to be rid of bloat.

It's like taking half a glass of chocolate milk and watering it down with more milk, so you think it is not as fattening as it was when it was only half a glass. :huh

I use AMD FUSION for gaming it will turn off all the background and startup programs or turn them all back on with 1 click. You need to have an amd processor tho, but the download is free.

I like a combination of msconfig, services.msc, and Ctrl + Shift + Esc. I think you can find these product free of charge. You just have to look hard enough (no, it's not pirated).

it is alacritypc..the way I programmed it was to have an open window in prifle and the manual in another so I could just read back and forth how to do it...skip the BLACK VIPER stuff, and just go to setting up a profile..

Thanks guys! I downloaded it last night and set it up using the hit and miss method. I should really read the manual. It's working great now though as I finally got online around 1:30am last night.

Thank you  :salute

Same here.  I also trim the Registry with Glary Utilities.    As for Alacrity and others, Skuzzy is correct.
