It is pronounced Budgee. A slang term or abbreviated name for an Australian parrot.
Their album covers are a give away.

I clicked on this expecting to see pictures of parakeets.

I think the term Budgie Smuggler is foreign to these guys. Lyric, I was wondering if people look at you strange in the states when you let off some Aussie expressions.

Yes. They are learning though. :aok
At least in these parts of Ohio.
For example where is that accent from I was asked? It is Australian I replied.
Australia where is that he asked? It is an island south off the coast of Alabama I told him.
I can't even explain the expression on his face.
A true story. :)

Lyric your my hero.
Seriously, that's the best thing I've ever read.

Yes he was! "Can you say pretty bird? Yes, pretty bird...."
I actually have a budgie, neat birds, and good looking.
I read somewhere that the original Aborigine word for budgie meant something like "good to eat." Man, no matter how tasty they might be, you'd have to have so many of them to get full...

Correct I believe they did regard them good to eat. My mother who was a farm girl growing up in the depression in Australia & a lot of times were forced to live off the land. She told me the best way to cook parrots was to throw them in a pot of boiling water with a rock & when the rock was soft the parrot was ready to eat. Some very tough meat I guess.

I thought you had to toss out the parrot and eat the rock.

Apparently they played the States back in April. I don't know how many dates but I noticed a post about a show in Ohio on Crack the Sky's myspace a while back. Too bad. Had I known I would have made the trip.

Crack the Sky, now there is a band I haven't heard of for years. I might have to revisit them. I used to have an album I think was called White Music by them, had the song Robots for Ronnie. Was good stuff.

White Music was from CTS v.2 IMO. Not bad stuff, but a departure from what got me into the band.
Check out Live Sky, Safety in Numbers, Animal Notes. Great Band.
