Indiana isn't even half as bad as NY.
-
Well you'll never like it with that attitude. It sucks when you have to move away from your friends. But, you have to understand your parents aren't doing this to punish you or anything. They've got their own reasons to make the move and you just have to trust it's a good reason. You'll make new friends, and you'll keep some old ones. It can be rough, but it'll help you grow up.
Also, dealing with a little midwest snow will only make you tougher, then you can laugh when you visit Vegas and everyone freaks about a tiny snowfall.

I do not think Indiana gets the lake effect snow like Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York.

Vegas is pretty messed up right now bro. You should be glad to get out of there on good conditions.
Also, friends will be easier to meet in the midwest... And David Lee Roth had it right when he sang about Midwest farmers' daughters!

Just keep this in mind, don't stick around when the farmer comes home and finds you with his daughter.

Skorp,
It will give you a chance to get into new things, you can try hunting, fishing, camping (in the woods) etc, im sure theres still places that you will be able to ride your dirtbike (or sell it and get a 4wheeler, they are a blast all year round, and a total riot in the snow)
You'll meet new people, see new things. Look at it as a life experiance.
I was young when we moved from Maine to PA,and at the time i knew that I would hate it, and told myself that as soon as I was old enough I was moving right back. Then i got older, met my best friend (more like a brother) and my wife. To tell ya the truth, you couldnt drag me out of PA now.
Good luck,I hope you give it a chance :aok
-
Well, You will be close to Fencer
-
When I was young, we moved from Dugway, Utah to some "stick & plum" spot in the southwest corner of South Dakota, then to Salmon, Idaho, then to a mining camp near Bethel, Alaska of all places, then to Palmer, Alaska. After that I lived in Anchorage and then Fairbanks on my own before finally moving here to my dad's farm in Eastern Oregon.
Trust me. One move, fine. But when your dad works as a geologist in a suffering mining industry during another economy crunch (late 1970's to all through the 80's), it tends to put a big strain on family in all sorts of ways. I had a rough upbringing as a result.
-
Indiana is pretty nice and quiet depending on where you are at. What part of the state are you going to?

i've already gone hunting before. Every year me and my Uncle go out to wisconsin in the early season and try to fill a few of our tags. Also im not really into fishing...i can wait for a deer to pop up after 7 hours of waiting but i just dont have the patience for a fish to bite a soggy worm attached to a hook :lol but i might have to sell my dirtbike for a 4wheeler, it sounds like fun and i have ridden on one before. it was fun! but im keepin the dunebuggy :noid :devil

You'll like Indiana. The midwest is a groovy place to be.

There's portions of Indiana that gets hit hard by lake effect.

The midwest is cool...
Just remember... you could be moving to the south... :uhoh

Now you can ride your dirt bike in the snow during the winter.....have fun :aok

Ice racing is popular in some areas. Studded tires.
Don't sell the bike, sell the buggy and get an ultra-light or snowmobile. :aok

The point is to have something useful to ride.
Not many dunes in Indiana, unless you'll be living near Lake Michigan. Even then, I'm not sure what the laws are about motorized vehicles on those dunes, as most (if not all) are within the boundaries of state or federal parks.
Either way, don't get too bummed out. There really is a lot of neat stuff to do.

Pecos TX to St Louis kindergarten to second grade
St Louis to Chicago second through fourth grade
Chicago to Fort Worth end of fourth grade
Fort Worth to Arlington TX (not far but I liked my baseball team) fifth and sixth grade
Arlington TX to Kennedale TX finish of sixth grade
Actually stayed in the same schools till I graduated.
Learned to make new friends fast and find out what people did for fun. Tried a lot of (legal) stuff and enjoyed myself.
Indiana is a fairly decent place. Perhaps not all the glitz and glamor of Las Vegas but it will give you a chance, as others have said, to experience new experiences. Not to mention to the girls in your school you can be the mysterious dude from Las Vegas :)
Good luck Skorp.
Oh, and quit bagging on your mom. She's got enough crap to deal with right now. Try to help her and have as good an attitude as you can.
-
If you feel that strongly about it. Then why would you leave? Find a way to stay.
And David Lee Roth had it right when he sang about Midwest farmers' daughters!
:rofl
Damn kids!
You DO mean the Beach Boys

Welcome to life kid. Now is as good of time as any to find out world doesn't revolve around you.
Things happen you don't like and you have to do things you don't want to.
Screaming isn't going to save you. Suck it up put on your big boy underwear and Merry Christmas. :D

It appears you are already familiar with the dialect of English spoken by many mid-western states, so you shouldn't have too much trouble where the language barrier is concerned. :P

Texans can :neener:
We are "opinionated." Some would choose to call us "coarse" but the reality is that we just call it like we see it. No BS from us.
-
lol come to South East Texas, the humidity will kill you,but thats about it
-
Enjoy the weather I enjoy now. Snow is falling in KY right now, about 3-4 inches. Sub zero temps at times, not including the wind-chill. And to add on to that, you're farther North than us! :rofl Tienes pasarlo bien. (Have a good time? :headscratch: )
-
lol come to South East Texas, the humidity will kill you,but thats about it
I've stayed in southwestern Oklahoma for 2 months last summer because i was visiting some family and every day when i went outside to go swimming it was like a breath of water...91% humidity with 120 degree heat. out in vegas its just dry heat, but in indiana its darnright cold...
-

I found a 10 inch long centipede while working around my cable box, with jaw clampers about 3/4 inch long... That might kill ya too. We also have a herd of deer that wanders through my neighborhood, and it is usually followed by either a mountain lion or a small pack of coyotes. The cougar might kill ya so watch yer back at night.

What part of Texas you live in?
-
Hmm, as an Air Force brat I had moved from TX to GA to CA by the time I was three - then Japan for three years.. then FL, AL, VA, OH, CA and back to FL to graduate from High School - then GA and TX for college - the SE Asia and Germany and back to TX - then to Or and back to TX. I am now officially full circle and not leaving again. Until Univ TX I had never been in one school more than 2 years
You will learn to make friends in strange places..
-
well in AH when you make friends you also have the opportunity to 'kill' them :D
