I thought that I was alone, but after speaking some other pilots in Mid War and Early War it seems that it would be appreciated if in EW and MW, the earlier, shorter range radar could be used.

Agreed.
My big wish for radar is, due to the fact that the settings seems to change on a whim, is for HTC to simply put in an arena message so that upon game start up everyone knows what the NOE settings are, the range of the radar ring, etc.
I think 65ft is too low on any map at any time, but if the radar floor changed within a 100ft to 500ft range from map to map I'd hardly make a peep. I think the change would be good to keep the NOE base takers happy, and yet keep them in check as well.
