Title: Eagles Game
Post by: ozrocker on December 26, 2010, 11:01:59 AM
NFL will probably postpone the game. Tell's you how bad it's going to get. Noon and snow barely starting in Philly area now.                                                                                                         Game at 8 pm Eastern. Supposed to be blizzard conditions. Up to 2 feet of snow.                                                                                                                                                               Snow rate 2-4 inches an hour by this afternoon/evening.
I hope they don't. It's always a great game played in snow.
They probably more worried about the Eagles fans, and hitting Ref's with snowballs.
Remember when they ice-balled the Ref? Knocked him cold.
They ice-balled santa too.

Fits the Vikings season perfectly. Sometimes when it rains. it pours...literally.

The Norse gods are obviously not pleased.
Playing this game i this weather would have been the only chance the Vikes had of winning against the Eagles as with the predicted 40 MPH winds would have reduced the game to running game Vs running game. to which I'd have given the vikes the edge.

Soon as you add passing into the mix. With rookie QB Web getting the start. The edge goes decidedly in the Eagles favor.

This is very bad news for the Gi-Aints fans and their over rated team.

Plow is on the truck, did that at 12am last night. Got home from a family get together and just decided to check the weather for today. I was floored to see this storm coming. All the forcasters said it would be farther east and or off shore. Epic Fail there. Said it would start around 7am here, another Fail, its 12:30 and not a flake yet ( sorry im a bit bitter, could have slept in an put the plow on this morning   :furious )

Its all good, i get to play in the snow right?  Cant be all bad. Wife has a habit of cooking real good stuff all day long when it snows....so when im done plowing my property, I can sit, have a couple beers and eat some really good chow!! Saw her cutting up some taters for homemade clam chowder...woo hoo!

Were lucky, only a foot "predicted" here. Good luck on the other side of the river Oz  :aok

Last time the weather men here in Texas "predicted" snow here they predicted a 'light dusting'....   We wound up having an all day blizzard and 14'' of snow by the time it stopped that night  :lol

That was Christmas Eve 2009 lol

Weathermen hardly ever get it right.

Ollie Williams, now that man is a real weather forecaster.

i just got home from my uncles(he's in sicklerville). i'm in lindenwold. got all the way up to 30 mph at one or two points. there was a salt crew blocking both lanes on the ac expressway, keeping traffic at about 15mph. they pulled off on the shoulder on rt 42, and i finally made some time.

visibility is less than 1/4 of a mile, most roads are un-touched right now, and most people out there are too friggin stupid to know how to handle this. i fear tomorrow is going to be a lost day at work, although i'm going in anyway.

it's nearly a foot deep in my front yard, and just over that at my uncles.

be careful.....it's not pretty out there.

Son of a .................. :furious well i guess it's back to drinking. Ok, I can see postponing the game if your balloon roof deflated. I guess philly fans can't be trusted in 5 inches of snow gezz..

Or in 72 degree comfy weather.  There's a reason they call it the 'City of Brotherly Shove'

Show this morning had a woman professional touting global warming. On the other side a meteorological scientist explaining the facts.

The so called GW professional, when asked questions, never provided facts. She just used terms like, "it's really interesting", and such.

It's going to be sunny today...... so wear your raincoat. :D

To add a different perspective.
These are quite a few Eagles fans in NJ as well. Within an hours ride of the game some of those areas got almost 3 feet.
I can get to Philly in less then an hour and I had 16-18 inches. After the wind. I had drifts over 2 feet.
I also understand that even today, two days after the fact there are parts of the GSP that arent completely cleared and still don to one lane and in some areas those covered over lanes contain drifts upwards of 7 feet.

Also remember they were calling for alot more then Philly actually got.

I personally would have had them play the game anyway. From the NFLs standpoint. They probobly didnt want to loose out on all that concession money that could have been lost

They should have played the game at 1:00 like they were supposed to.  I hate the "8 O'clock" games (which actually start much later - to make more money I guess) because they end too late.  Who cares if the west coast can see a game they won't be watching.  Football should be on Sunday afternoon as God intended.

Dont think anyone saw that coming. As a Vikings fan...Joe Webb looked pretty good, and i hope Fraiser gets the job next year.

I know I sure as hell didnt. Neither the win nor Webbs play.
I know not one game does a players career make. But he put on a good showing tonight. Good accuracy, decision making, touch, range, and legs. and most importantly for a QB of his experience. which really is almost next to none in at the NFL level. He didnt get rattled. At least for this game anyway. I was particularly impressed with his TD run. Not with the score itself but how he went about it. He was looking to pass all the way until running was the only option left. Alot of rookie QBs would have panicked. He ddnt.

The kid has alot of potential.

One thing though. If Im an official for the Vikes. I send him off to take speaking lessons in the off season. LOL
