My wife "surprised" me with a new head set this Christmas.
Its a Microsoft "life chat" something or other.
My usual headsets plug in to a usb port and are set to go.
This set required me to use a install disc that says "life chat 1.4" on it.
The sound is fine, but the mic has a delay on it I can't figure out.
I can hear myself speak then a fraction of a second later it will come through the head set.
I'm using Windows 7 Home with an ATI 5870.
Not sure if there is some conflict with the sound on the gpu and some other sound device in the computer.
Any Ideas??
Thanks, Bobby G.

Sure ur speakers aren't on? That would explain the feedback.

No speakers hooked up.

No speakers hooked up.
Check that your microphone playback is set to mute in your audio settings. Not the recording level, mind you. Playback.

I checked that Ripley, thanks for the advice.
It didn't change anything.
When I talk into the mike it takes a second until it comes through the headset.
I can't figure it out. :cry

Check in the recording tab of the sound applet that whichever device you have selected does not have any "listen to" option checked.
In other words: Check the properties of the device and there should be a "Listen" tab. You dont want to listen to the device.
