In a furball.........I normally go for the P38s because they are big/slow/ and easy to killl :D :devil
-
A6M's, Brewsters and Hurricanes. :aok
If I'm in a Spit that is.
-
The one not looking.
-
The guy on the outskirts of the fight so I can keep the horde to one side of me...
-
The guy on my squaddies 6.... :airplane:
-
The guy on my squaddies 12.... :D
-
The one that's the biggest threat. Assuming 3 planes all about the same distance, spread out around me, all around the same potential to turn on me any second, I'll pick on a spit16 before the P-51 and 109E-4.
Because if I don't take that spit16 out and I give him a single inch anywhere, he'll kill me or make it so that I get in a position (from trying to evade him) that all 3 cons are now killing me.
Barring any immediate threats, the closest available target that doesn't have 4+ already chasing him.

Ditto. I don't like any competition for my Mark VIII!

So you're the one who keeps shooting me down! :D

Floatsup introduced me to the P47-M in a recent fighter mission and have been flying it ever since. Get it to 20K and make sure to retain E at all times. It seems to have endless ammo and fuel. It's a great bomber killer and boom and zoomer.
-
I'll the guy thats BnZ the furball first then, I'm going to to kill every goon before any other plane :devil
-

:aok
-
Whichever planes presents the biggest threat - then anything stupid enough to go across my gunsites (generally happens right before someone else shoots me down :D)

Good call. Always take on the biggest threat first. Usually the others you can evade.
Barring any real immediate threat. Targets of opportunity. Unless someones in serious trouble I try not to fixate too much on one target (unless Im after someone specific) and will often abandon one target if another makes itself more available to my guns.
One of the biggest mistakes I see both Vets and newbs alike make is becoming too fixated on one plane.
-
Anything that can turn. He is more likely to engage into a fight. Any P51s or 190s in the area will just make high speed passes and generally are not a big threat if you can take the turning guy out fast.
-
Anything intercepting my B17.

What do you fly Jolly?

My experience is EVERYONE jumps the low JUG, EVERYONE ;) and if there is no JUG around then they pile on Corky to be rid of him! :aok
The latter is in the bible somewhere, I'm sure of it!
I think only a goon attracts more stiffies than a low JUG ;)

Personally, I leave low jugs alone. I prefer the ones standing higher :D

Thank you, thank you, I am here all week

I tend to go for the one that is either co-alt and appears to be co-e, or the higher guy. if none are higher or co-alt, then i tend to go for the faster or heavier armed planes first. h
-
brewsters...they're ugly and deserve to die.
ponys.....i love the weeping noises pony drivers make
-
I hate turny birds.....they die first but the main thing I do is try to drag one or two guys out to fight them in a bit better terms....
-
What do you fly Jolly?
I LOVE the A6M5b and the F4F, absolutley love'em. I Don't mind the 109K and P39Q either :D

the first time i flew the 39Q, it absolutely surprised me. it surprised me even more when i got rid of the gondola guns.
-
I usually go for the highest con in the area and work my way down until nothing is left :D
-

It's a VERY deadly plane with speed, it has the guns of a P51B PLUS two big cannons....Looks good when you land kills in it too
-
I kind of like to shoot any Jap plane because they burn so nice. Fire Pretty.

JUGgler
No need to gang up on Corky. If left alone he will auger within a few minutes. Just make sure you are close enough for the proxy. :neener: This is most likely due to his ground crew being sloppy drunk all the time and the second hand parts they use to repair is oft wrecked bird.
-
The BnZ birds first, than turners, than rollers.
-
C202s, always get the C202s first. Assign at list 2 spit16 to them and a Spit8 to go call for more when we run out of aSpit16s :rofl
-
Other than trying to clear a countryman, if there are high-alt planes around and I can go for them, I do that first.
If it's just a general furball and any plane is as good as another, I go after the most-popular planes with preference (Spit 16's, La-7's, Tempests if there is one around, etc.).
-
Lets look at this another way. I fly a P38G cause I figure everyone will go for me first!
If it gets a little bit carried away, I take a 39Q as it's a smaller target :)
-

Doesnt have the speed, stability, or climbing ability of the P51B though...

Carefull that 202 may have a JUG up his sleeve :)

I believe it does have the stability...and it can out dive you...
-
I believe it does have the stability...and it can out dive you...
doesnt have the stability, trust me on that one :aok and it can barely do the second. So i can just stay at alt and pick the 39 to death.
-

The P-39 (both Q and D) is quite a decent plane below about 13k. Turns decently, rolls decently, has decent speed down low, is excellent in high-speed dives. I've flown it a lot in the MA.
It would be interesting to know how it would have been regarded if it had from the start gotten a good turbosupercharger like the P-38, which was the original plan.
It is also interesting to know that the Soviets used it as an air-superiority fighter (i.e., against 109's, 190's, Ju 88's, Ju 87's, etc., not primarly as a ground-attack plane as often mistakenly stated in literature), loved it, and did very well with it. Three of their top five aces flew the P-39. The difference is that a lot of the eastern-front fighting was at about 15k to the deck.
-
The general rule is always this:
If you're in a fast ride always kill faster planes first...
If you're in a turny bird always kill the better turners first...
If you're in a hybrid always kill the ones with higher E states first.
The logic behind this is, during a protracted fight, the more you're E state degrades the fewer options you have. By eliminating the birds faster than yourself or "turnier" than yourself you can still retain an advantage all the way down the energy curve. In this way you will always leave yourself the egress or turn n' burn option as the case may be, depending on your ride. If you leave faster or turnier planes alive, you are generally screwed once your E state degrades below theirs, without any viable recourse left.
-
The one not looking.
Lol true.
I'll go for A6Ms, F4Us, and P-38s
-
The guy on my squaddies 12.... :D
u bastage
I go for the one with 15 friendly already on em
nah I go for whoever I think I could kill within a turn or 2 to avoid getting picked.
-
The one on someone else's 6 without a wingman. :airplane:
-
Spits
109 food ;)
-
The following: N1K2, Hurricane 2C, C-Hog, Tempest, 109K, Spit16, -- basically, the planes that make it easy for their player to get a one shot kill, skilled or not.
-
Carefull that 202 may have a JUG up his sleeve :)
That is just wrong, but what ever you like. Jugs should always fly in pairs :old:
-
I always go for Dedalos first in the DA, get the easy ones out of the way first. :neener:
-

Nothing like a good warm up :old:
-
Forget plane type. Reducing the number of enemies overall has the greatest impact on successfully surviving a furball; for every enemy you kill, your odds of survival increase dramatically.
I used to engage planes with roughly equal E states first, then work my way down based on relative E. All things being equal, I'd go for the "easy" kill first (I'm looking at you, P-38s and other larger platforms).
-
The guy on the outskirts of the fight so I can keep the horde to one side of me...
^ what he said
-
Clearing a friendly's six is my first priority.
After that, go for the co alt BnZers (usually FW's, Ponies, Doras and Temp/Typhs) then low alt speedsters (low La's, low ponies, jugs, K4's etc), then everything else.
-
La7's
Race through the furball ho ho ho turn, and race through from the other direction ho ho ho.
-
The first one who appears willing to separate.
-
190s
Race through the furball ho ho ho turn, and race through from the other direction ho ho ho.
Fixed :old:

Fixed :old:
Be fare 190'S have less options than la7's and LA and Nikki are the big hoers in my experience.

I agree that 190s have less options. But getting into one knowing what the options are is what makes me wonder :old:
-
when I fly into a fight, I try to take the same plane I am in out first, it gives less of a chance that someone can use my streights against me
-
I target a6m's hurricanes spixteens and la7s for reasons you all know..
-
p51 and La7 to die first
-
The one that's the biggest threat.
Whichever planes presents the biggest threat
Always take on the biggest threat first
I prefer to neutralize the biggest threat first.
:aok x4
-
Anything I cant catch, when joining a furball you usually have height, I drop on the fastest aircraft there and kill him so he cannot run away. Then pick off the turners.
-
whoever has the most powerfull gun package/whoever is the biggest threat.
-
Depending on what I'm flying and the approach I take, the 1st one that gives it's six to me is the first one that is  :rock
-
Anything that red about co-alt.
-
All things being equal, the fastest ones, because they will hunt me down like a dog after the D11 is leaking oil and I'm pw'd (That, and I !@#!@#ing HATE K4's and Lgays )
-
If I am in a fast plane I go after fast planes, if in a turnny plane, other turnny planes, a g2 or g14 I go after anything.

Which plane do I go for?
Yours.

every one seems to like jumping on my hurricane MkIa in the Ma , even if there are bigger threats to them around. I tend to go for anything that i can get 200Yrds or closer to. Saying that i Love to dive from 20K onto P51/ P47 that are lower than me , just to see the squeaking on 200 with the WTF thats BS comments.
-
Isn't it odd how when you manage to fly your plane "against type", i.e. doing something the plane isn't noted for, like turnfighting in a 190 or bnz with a hurri; people will call BS? Rather than accepting the fact that a) you're better than they are and b) sometimes the plane will surprise you?
Nowadays when someone does that to me, I'm more like..."hmm, interesting...i wonder how they managed that?", and sometimes I will page an inquiry to them, so I can a) use the maneuver myself and b) plan for it next time.
Live and learn, (or die and learn)
