Title: d3dx10
Post by: guncrasher on December 30, 2010, 01:14:56 AM
I was just uninstalling some stuff and i noticed  I have this file d3dx10 installed.  when I check on support information it doesnt give me a location.  it just says it's a microsoft file.  I googled it and found one item about it being some kind of debugging program for missing dll's.  can anybody confirm this is a legit program?  It was installed same day as an update.

d3dx10  Is DirectX 10. You need DirectX 9 or better to run AH and other programs.

Here's a link to the Microsoft Download Center to check out what it does.

Maybe you can find some usefull info on it...maybe not..

I'm guessing that you're running Vista or Windows 7. As far as I'm aware, DirectX 10 (which is what this file belongs to) comes packaged with these operating systems. So, the file is definitely no threat. In case you didn't know, DirectX is responsible for drawing the 3-Dimensional images you see when playing Aces High.

thanks guys.  what really surprised me is that it was added as an update a couple of weeks ago and made a reference to directx10, while i have 11 installed on my puter since last year.  I have win7 64bit.  not sure if I should uninstall it, since I have dx11.  any ideas?

I'd consider it a stack-up, similar to Microsoft .NET Framework. You can't get Framework 3.5 without having Framework 2 and 3.
