When I started playing Aces High almost 2 years ago, I carried with me the Warbirds Code of Honor. Under no circumstances ever would you shoot the parachute of an opposing pilot. You just didn't do it. Period.
It was lowdown, skummy, and dweebish. Only dorks would shoot your chute.
Well, I started playing Aces High in October of '99 and was exposed to different players from other games. As a "warbirder" I had been taught that these people from such inferior games like "Airwarrior" and such were low-class scumbags who paid 9 bucks a month for their "gamey" game. I soon had heard rumors that these players had been doing such atrocity's in the game such as openly shooting parachutes!
I would post on the boards with my warbirds brethren denouncing the evils of this practice. The poor "Airwarriors" needed educating we thought.
Well, soon thereafter, there was this skumbag ( :D) named "creamo" who would fly N1K's and openely smoke my chute whenever he was around me! :mad: I couldn't believe that this lowdown non-warbirder would do such a thing to me!
To make a long story short, here I am, 2 years into this game, and I am an openly happy car-bomber, and chute shooter.

And I like it too!
So you better look out! if you see a 109 near you, don't pull that ripcord til you're good and low!

I try not to shoot chutes but if someone shoots at my silk then im hunting for that low scumbag and shooting his!

I'm usually so busy being chased that I don't have time to kill chutes...otherwise you could bet your sweet hiney that I would kill every chute I saw.

I always shoot a chute if given the chance. Of coarse the most rewarding part about it is if someone whines about it on channel 1. Now I just need to figure out how to get them damn FDBs to pull the ripcord.

I'll always pull off a sure kill if I see silk floating. I'm collecting the hides to make me some silk jammies.

Filmed one the other night (sorry no webspace available. Ask me and I'll mail it to ya) -- furball by CV. I've launched in a TBM and am egressing when there's a chute at my 2 ock, 1500 feet up. Break right, pull into a hammerhead, spray 'em down. Chute explodes as I blow past, full rudder and back to the deck.

Vulchers
N1k drivers
Chog drivers
LW drivers
Those really good P51 drivers (not very often this one, if ever - the barstewards)
'Lavochka masters'
'Lavochka master' wannabes
Bish drivers
Rook drivers

As an old Air Warrior, I refrained from shooting chutes. I thought it wasn't nice, not to mention I didn't want to waste my bullets. But I've been converted.
After a good dogfight, the bogie finally managed to knock enough pieces off my plane to send me into a spin. I hit the silk and prepare to type a <S> to the victorious pilot when I notice his Niki doing a slow turn and heading back my way.
I'm thinking to myself "He isn't going to..."
when the tracers start flying.
Now I look forward to some target practice

I’m SimFreak, You might see me on line and if by some weird chance I get to shoot you down because you didn’t check 6- And you manage to pull that cord I will make a slow turn around and spray just enough lead so that you’ll piss your pants, but I will not kill. I’ll just watch that yellow liquid drip from chute and have a good laugh. Why, couse I’m no stinki chute shooter :D . DWEEBS!!!!

Heh, I came from WarBirds, but never hesitated to shoot chutes here any time I saw 'em! :)
Oh, and Rude, you're looking at this all wrong. There is nothing more important then killing a guy in a chute...not even a goon (they can't go too far while you're taking care of the guy in a chute). Throttle up, jinx if you have to, to avoid the bullets wizzing past your cockpit from your 6, but by god, get that chute before you're downed! :D
Oh, and Dinger, I will always cheerfully give up some of my web space for posting pics of chute shooting. If you want it posted, just email it to me at matt@hoffman.org, and I'll put it up in this thread!

Well, I don't really know what carbombing in AH is (although I have been accused of it), but I've always considered any parachute to be a choice target in the MA, and usually treat them accordingly.

Hi; my name is Hangtime, and I'm a chute killer. Like hblair, I was a Warbirder, and when I started flying here I was very much against this heathen practice. Since then, I've learned to ride the wreckage in if I'm shot down myself, and follow an adversary's debris to the dirt, hoping for him to PULL THAT RIPCORD!
MUAHAHAHHAHHAHHAAAA! Damn; it's so much fun....
Creamo taught me the basics, but I've been improving on the style. I wait till the guy drifts down to about 5 feet off the dirt, THEN I kill 'em. :)
Nothin like a good wail on channel 1 after snuffin some score dweebs attempt at survival in the shark pool.
Haven't tried car-bombing yet, tho it is on my list of things to do this tour.

I don't shute chutes!! well if he's on the ground yeah... and i shute ditchers... but!! if i see a chute floating down that bastid can damn well wait for the ground to get a new plane, I am not helping him +)
I luv carbombers!! hop in 109f4, fly to vulched field, using just mg's ping the carbombers a coupla times and collect kills +)

I once car-bombed an Osty who was parked by a dead FH killing anything that tried to take off. Rolled a B26 out of the bomber hangar to do it, and let me tell you, it was simply delightful!

I popped my chute at 11k in the CT last weekend and sat there enjoying the sounds of the planes buzzing around me (dx8 beta). I knew I was in trouble when I heard the steadily increasing whine/thump-thump of a P47 behind me... the whizzing of bullets passing near me.... then boom. Ruined a good sightseeing trip. Darn chute shooters, and those people lame enough to jump my six :eek: while I am sightseeing.

Hi, I'm Naso, and i still have difficulty to kill chutes, I mean, I try hard, but some strange force push my finger out of trigger when closing a chute....
I need help!!
BTW, in old days was really fun, once I downed a notorious chute killer, he opened chute waaaay up (some 10k), and ask to be killed in open channel.
I made a near pass and say "enjoy the sight".
The screaming in ch1 was sooo sweet. :D

Ain't gonna happen. First thing I had to do when joining FDBs was unmap the bail key.
Well actually that was the second thing, but I'm still trying to repress those memories.

it is allways a good thing to kill gthe cowardly bailers. It is a very good thing to shoot the chutes of the suicide, attention starved and skilless buffers...
if the cowardly bailer gets less points if you kill his chute (does he?) then it is indeed a noble and clever thing to kill chutes in a game that uses a "point system" it could be considered as part of the "strat" and therefore... mandatory to kill chutes.
if i am ever in a "chute" please shoot me as i have hit the wrong key by mistake and need desperately to getr back in the fite.
and hblair.... there is nothing wrong with your killing chutes it is a noble thing but.... you still ain't quite right tho.
