Title: ANyone haveing problems withe the profiles for the Saitek X-36
Post by: AG Sachsenberg on May 07, 2001, 11:14:00 AM
Just got this puppy last weekend and it hosed my sys.  Downloaded Rangerbob's profile and it scewed my sys pretty good.  I am running 2.3 and did everything by the book.  Any suggestions?  It runs fine when I do not use the profiles, and it seems the shift key is locked on in windows as well with the profile being used.

Before you do that, be aware that Ron Hunt (saitekhelp.com) suggests SGE 3.0 has some bugs.

I had similar problems with RangerBob's profile and cured them by doing the following:
The two turn dials on the throttle must be returned to center, otherwise they continue to input data which hoses the profile and Windoze. Also, be sure SGE auto profile activation is checked. Use the task bar icon to check it.

Win98SE + SGE 2.3 are the best platform at present for the X-36/35. My new Dell box came pre-loaded with WinME. One word: SUCKS

I have WinME, DX8.0a, not sure of the SGE - but everything works together without troubles.  I've never tried RangrBob's profile so I can't say if does something drastically different from my profile.

Sach - if you want to try my profile, let me know, I'll email it to you (along with the keyboard config - I've remapped keys)

Cheers

This is excellent advice. If you check the read me file with my profile it will tell you about the problems of using those rotary wheels for trimming etc as leaving them out of center causes them to send constant commands that can really cause problems.

The best set up is to use version 2.3 with Dx 7a. Dx 8 will not work well with this version. SGE version 3 works with Dx8, ,but Ron Hunt(Saitek Help site) indicates this new version has some serious bugs. I hope you can use Dx7a and V2.3 with my profile.

Sounds like you tried Version 3 which is buggy or the old 2.3 with Dx8 which won't work

Good Luck

Ranger Bob

After fiddlin with this damn PC for about 4 hours it struck me as odd.  I have 3 USB ports on my PC and never thoguht to check them.  I did switch it to the game port and back to the USB and it still gave me the same prob.  So at the near end of my limit for remaining calm I said hmmm what about teh USB port maybe going bad?  Sure enough switched ports and blamo it works now.  So if you get that error message I posted try switching out the USB ports as a first option.  I hope my frustration may help someone down the line.
