I had to order myself a new HPA2 headset, just got it all plugged in and set up today. The old one had some of the left ear speakers blown out while I was picking a ride in the hangar of a CV. My question here is: Is there some way to turn that particular sound way down or even replace it entirely with a blank .wav file or something? Do we know the name of the ship's gun firing sound? I really don't want to shell out another 70 bucks or so because that sound is so overwhelmingly loud, I have better uses for that money.
This new headset is just as fantastic as the old one by the way! HPA2 rocks!

Perhaps the lil thingy that comes with the headset could come into play................."Volume Control" :rock
Beats blowing up another set of ears.

Well it's not that I had all my volume turned way way up or anything, it's just that the level of that sound is so much higher than every other sound. It blew out the sub and prolly one other speaker on the left can.
Waystin, I said I oiled myself!!
Thanks flatiron, I have Audicity, I'll just record a wav of me saying "boom" very mildly and replace that.
Thanks guys, yall just saved me 60 bucks!

Hey Madda, If you have Audacity you can use the "Amplify" effect and adjust the level down from 0. Here's an example:
