We need a rule that says, 1. If you're idle in the tower for 15 min you get disco'd 2. If you sit in a shore battery and don't fire on an approaching CV for 5 minutes, you get bumped out of the shore battery and can't get back in it for 24 hrs. 3. You cannot split your squad. All squadies fight the same side, ie: if the ve3ry first squadie logged on as a Rook, the rest of your squad must log on as rooks. These rules will prevent, for example, a Bish squadie from logging in as a Rook at a base with an approaching Bish./Knit CV & just sitting there tying up the gun to prevent it's use, prevent several Knight squadies from logging on as Rooks and sitting in the tower doing nothing except affecting the eny to keep it equal, and it will prevent anyone from logging on & going to work or the store etc.intentionally or :salute forgetting to log off, thus padding the Country count in a negative way. This is not a Bish, Knit, or a Rook thing, it's effects everyone.

No.

1) Big Nope.
2) Nope, But I would settle for a player icon above shore batteries for grins and giggles.
3) I sympathize, but nope.

1. Perhaps I'm waiting for squaddies or others I've been winging with to die/land so we can re-up together. Perhaps I'm looking at the map to see what's going on. Perhaps that dump I'm taking isn't quite as easy as I had thought.
2. Perhaps someone should get bumped for not firing the SB at an enemy TG, but a 24-hour ban is ridiculous.
3. Many squads don't have ridiculous rules like "we fly Rook/Bish/Nit and nothing else - ever." Some squads like to even out number imbalances - which are more pronounced in MW and EW where the overall numbers are very low to begin with. Some of the best fights I've had were against squaddies flying for another side.
-
15 minutes in tower is a bit too short. I'd say more like an hour. Also, if you are coordinating with squaddies, you aren't afk, you are going to be pressing buttons and such.
24 hour ban, no. Kick from gun when afk for a period of time? Sure. I mean who is going to sit in a gun for an extended period of time without giving the game any input. If they are actually in the gun actively doing something, they are going to be either clicking the map, talking on vox, typing in chat, or turning the gun.
-
Just my opinion, but the only reason to disagree, is to be in sympathy to, or part of those whose run cheats, or pad the game in this manner. Of course, those who are being harmed by this, or have noticed this, will agree, and those who are part of the problem, will oppose it. IMO. :D

This is a great constructive comment IMADOT, but the time frame was a suggestion, not intended to be rigid. You wouldn't wait in a tower for 30 minutes. If you did I still say that's part of the problem. A 30 min ban would probably suffice. for the shore battery tie-up. :old:

I should have used "XXX time frames" as an example. Their are greater minds than mine to decide that.

thats a bit of a leap.. C-word and "padding"?? how do you "pad" anything by sitting in a tower or in a shorebattery?
so what, people might want to fight against each other as a squad, maybe they wannt just sit in the tower and BS with squaddies.. maybe they want to spy and give away positions of the dime-a-dozen respawning CV's, or give up the position of some random NOE mission.. maybe they do want to tie up a shorebat (never seen actual proof of it tho)...
seems to me someone wasn't doing what YOU wanted them to be doing with the shorebat, so you want to change the game so they have to play your way. would you rather they sit in there firing but not hitting anything with it? because thats all they'd have to do to prevent getting kicked out.
at the end of the day, what difference does it make? who really cares? let em knock themselves out. I'm sure they'll get bored with it eventually.
I dont concern myself with what other people are doing or not doing. My fun does not rely on them, all I need is red things to shoot at.

When will you guys quit taking this so seriously?
:cry :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry

Quite often, the SB doesn't have a firing solution because the CV group stays out of the line of fire. So the guy manning the SB doesn't even bother firing. I would bet 99% of the time that it is this scenario and not some "side switching spy" squatting in the SB.

Yup. I'm just a dweeby spy who switches countries to bomb ships, then sit in shore batteries all day so my squad on the other side can attack the base freely.
-
It's not like SBs are hard to destroy. How many people actually do this? Can't say I support these ideas. The exploiting of sides will always be there and I see no way to avoid it. It's part of the game and it's annoying.
-
No.
Ditto.

how about if you can bump anybody from sb or field gun based on rank, like we do with cv's. that will be the end of the spy thing.

:rofl wow! You guys really get all worked up and frothy from someone just stating an opinion. If you don't respect me or feel threatened, shuddup. :huh Just because you don't see it doesn't mean it ain't happening. I know, you got a crystal ball. I don't care. The SB part was a very small annoyance, comparatively. The idea that this couldn't be fixed, or it would be a major problem is pure BS. Most of the answers on this wish list are negative by the Know-it-alls crowd that hover here, just 'cause it ain't yours. Even a purely simple and reasonable suggestion gets guffawed here, so forgive me if I don't bow respectfully. "I'm not worthy, I'm not worthy" :neener: :devil

Now see, someone made a constructive comment. Thanks Semp and a great Idea.

I was giving the shore battery a try once defending a base from a cv attack the cv was to far to the left for me to point at it so I didn't shoot and someone asked who was in the SB so I told them why I wasn't shooting then after the cv was in range I started shooting at the cruiser (once you get them ranged in they are fun) after sinking the cruiser I looked around and it looked like the defenders and attackers were having fun so I left the carrier alone then the same person started PMing me calling me names and telling me to shoot the carrier, so I just logged off and haven't been in an SB since

Again thank for the constructive comments. This also is not a huge problem for the programmers to only start the boot clock when a CV is within & stays within range. During this period if no firing commences within 5 minute I think a boot is called for. This could be groomed to be well within range for the newbs so that learners don't get penalized. I do not believe that the very capable designers/programmers here would be overly challenged by this...time allowing. :salute :airplane: :bolt:

again, if the dreaded spy's objective is to tie up the shorebattery and render it useless, whats to keep him from just firing out into nowhere every 5 mninutes.. or better yet, just taping down his fire button?
the reason people are against these type wishes is that it attempts to solve a "problem" that doesn't exist. Fortunately HTC does seem to ignore them and spends their time actually working on new planes and gameplay adjustments that matter, instead of worrying about if someones sitting in a tower, or not firing a shorebattery.

Well as I said before the SB part of the wish was the lesser part of it, but I guess when it happens to you, you might feel a little different. JMO. :salute

i thought i made that clear before.. "it" has "happpened" to me many times.. It just doesn't bother me at all though.. people sitting in the tower (causing ENY?? cant get into capped arena??), or switching sides (SPYING!!!!) makes absolutely zero difference to me and the way i play the game.
again I ask, why do you care so much about what other people are doing? all 3 of your original wishes in this thread are about forcing other people to do what you think they should do, and still you have not yet explained why they should be forced to do it your way.

Take it easy. Your "stated opinion" also asks for something to be done. If people disagree with you and they are the majority maybe you should back off a bit and look for a more elegant solution. Sir, :salute, there is no conspiracy to ruin your game. IMHO you are focused on the negative. There is so much good fun to be had here.

oh man what a day two threads in one day that made me roflmao, awesome this is too good to be true....thanx dood.

Before HTC put in the very noticable tracer streaks, I was once accused on range channel of purposefully tying up the shore battery and not firing at the CV. He went on for a good five minutes, questioning my parentage and all kinds of other niceties -- despite the fact I had hit the dang thing several times during his rant. :noid

I usually fly rook, but one day I switched to bish and when I got in the 8 inch guns firing at another CV, I had about 100 squeekers telling me to get out of the guns because I was deliberatly trying to sink their cv and never to go bish again
:rofl :rofl :rofl

Wow! again. I never mentioned a conspiracy to ruin my game & I don't want to force anyone to do anything. If someone acts like I'm looney for making a suggestion & that I have some strange power or control over the minds of HTC designers to force you all to bend to my thinking? Just plain Buffalo Biscuits. I have spoke with quite a few people who have encountered everything I mentioned. Accurate? I have no way to verify, but just because a few folks paid attention to this thread and some don't believe it's happening, &/or don't believe we have the right to complain about cheating, is absurd. I have seen things in this game that screamed "Cheater" & I've heard this accusation rather regularly. There is NO reason for not doing everything possible to eliminate potential cheats. Some will always find a way to cheat. I guess I don't care if someone thinks I'm trying to force them to stop cheating. Why not? What do loop holes add the this game? I'm not that worked up about this, but I can't believe how worked up some people get. Nuff said by me. :bolt:

Trust me. What you brought up in this thread is nothing but assumptions. Very inacurate I must say. If you have solid proof that people that are switching countries to get in shore batteries or rat out missions, then take the proof and email it to HTC. Im sure they can handle it.
I can almost guess that most of what you encounter is merely a misunderstanding. These people are so much flaming you, but giving you examples on what you think is going on, but in actuality is not ( not saying that it NEVER goes on, but happens alot less than you think).
I jumped into shore bats plenty of times and though it may seem from your angle sitting outside it that it can reach the CV, sometimes it wont turn that far. For the guy sitting in it, waiting for it to come in range, it may seem that he is just some dweeeb holding it out, preventing people from getting in.
For keeping your mishunz super secret. I can tell you that 99.9999999% that are switching countries could give a rat's arse what condition the map is in and could care less about the war. They just switch to fight and thats it.
You guys that think this game is just about the real estate need to grow up and figure out that there is a HUGE player base that respect and have freinds in other countries. They dont have time or desire to make rolling the map their full time job. Mostly get in a couple sorties and log off for the night.

Doh! By preventing anyone else from shooting at a CV.....

Give me a little credit. I was at a base for 20 minutes, couldn't get into the SB, it was occupied and not firing during the entire course of the attack with the CV in plain view & easily within range. I never said MOST of the players here cheat. I agree, that a high majority of players are above suspicion, that doesn't prevent a small % from pulling shenanigans.
One of the strangest things I find on this wish list forum, is the propensity for those who really don't care 2 cents worth about my wish will spend their precious time arguing about something they claim to care nothing about, or deny it even occurs. As far as the contention that HTC would spend vast amounts of time on this when their time is so badly needed elsewhere? they entire SB thing could be solved by showing their Callsign over the SB, to friendlies only, so if this occurs film & send to HTC. Again if there's nothing to this, then let the thread die here instead of continuing the challenge daily. :salute

BTW i never said I was against putting icons on it so you could see whos in various guns. however, if you really want to figure it out, you already can just film in the vicinity and go find out for sure.
nevertheless, whats the end difference between someone just sitting idle in it on purpose, and some noob in it who cant hit the cv? would it ease your mind knowing it's just a noob with no nefarious intent, or would you bully and ridicule him out of the gun so you could take over?
