Too bad we cant spread around the heart felt giving to the rest of the homeless, starving children in the US instead of all these huge offers of fortune going to 1 single person.
This guy had a chance at life years ago and admittedly failed, the starving kids of homeless families have no choice.

Just shows where our shallow minds really are.

Just feel good with the feel good story. Second is the key word in "second chance."

Yeah I try, but I got a feeling it will end up like the OCTO Mom story when it first broke, that was a feel good story too.  Everyone poured in love and support for this lady until they started asking questions and getting the story of how she ended up that way.  Now most want to ring her neck for being so stupid.

This isnt this guys first "second chance" btw.

Spot on, Business's want him to make to make them more profit now that he's a youtube phenom, meanwhile families are losing there homes, eatting less, going without the basics just to keep a roof over there heads

i know this first hand, i have 2 disabilities, 1 is work related, the other is a real bad speech impediment  3 months after buying my home my job of 5+ years ( sense i moved here) was given away to the owners 18yo grandson, he needed a job more than i did, i live in a county where the unemployment rate is almost 20% people are losing there homes left and right, the City gave Facebook the keys to the city so they could build a information storage facility here ( no utilities or property taxes for 5+ years as incentive) My property Value has went down by 40K but taxes went up by over $200  i look for work ( any kind of work) as far as 60 miles one way from home, i get 185.00 a week unemployment, my savings and retirement are all gone, being a single dad with a deadbeat mom they did allow me some help with food but not much, behind on bills and about ready to reach the " i don't give a *$#*  anymore stage, the only thing i wont quit is AH it's my only way of relieving the stress,  again sorry for the vent

sorry for rambling on but this just hits a nerve with me, he turned to drugs and booze and lost it all and gets all these offers now because of a youtube video, Pfft  only in America

Fair can be a matter of perspective, but we should strive to make it so.  :aok

While the media focuses only on the "second chance" they turn a blind eye to the reason he was homeless in the first place...

He WAS a radio professional to begin with!  One of the Mega-Owner monster radio companies came in, bought his station, fired everyone except the sales staff, put up satallite dishes and simo-blasted vanilla.  No job--no other radio job to go to (because they no longer exist) loses his home, broke, and while he did some jail time for "homeless" related crime like stealing food and breaking and entering, he's living under highway bridges and in makeshift tents.

Of the colleagues I worked with since 1981--

About 60-65 % or so are out of the business and doing any job they can find
About 20% committed suicide after losing everything
About 10% died from natural causes
The rest are wandering the street homeless

Example:  one of my "competition" in the market had a successful oldies morning show (he worked for one of the Mega-Owners).  He had always wanted to do mornings at the big FM talk radio in the market and behind the scenes garnered a high dollar 2 year contract with them. He went in to give his 2 week notice.  They asked where he was going and he told them.  The GM pulls a 5 year no-compete clause out of the desk drawer, waves it in his face and then fires him on the spot.

The guy did best he could but the Mega-Owner blacklisted him with all the other mega-owners as a trouble maker because he had the gaul to try and better his career.  He lost his house, went from non-radio job to non-radio job and within 2 years was dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

This "second chance" guy is a case of the dog returning to it's own vomit.  Sad.
