I am not an aviation nut but even I thought this was interesting.

Holy freaking sensationalism, batman.
Was just in there last night and they closed 36L was closed but 36R was open. We didn't die, get lost, wonder or even care why the left was closed. By god the Localizer for 36R was still pointing right down the pike of 36R.
They did the same down in PBI last year where the 9's became 10's and 13 became 14 (27's to 28's and 31 to 32 respectively as well). They do the same at every airport to account for the constantly shifting magnetic field when they get out of tolerance from when they were originally paved.
That story made it seem like the airplanes were in grave danger because their mag compass was going to be off by a degree from runway heading.

Seems this isnt new,every 5 years or so they have to renumber the runways as the pole is in a constant state of movement.
