Title: New wishlist name
Post by: jolly22 on January 07, 2011, 03:25:12 PM
Instead of Wishlist. It should be Realistic Wishlist.  :P

Is there a way that HT could say....Before you start a new topic makes you look at the searchs? Once you like New Topic, It goes straight to the search bar and makes you search first. Then you will be aloud to post. If people don't search and just type something randomly, then so be it. But it would help the search tool be more popular.

can you give an example of something that hasn't wished for before? other than the m18, everything pretty much has been asked many times before.  and if we get everybody searching it will slow down the bb to a crawl.  by the way go back and check again it's been asked not inside the thread.

I don't know of a rule that says you can't start a new thread about an old subject and I don't think I have ever seen a thread locked due to the fact that it had been hashed many times.

To my knowledge the only ones that have problems with ideas being brought up over and over are the regular participants in the BB's and not HT. I have however saw many threads locked for being brought up from the out of the past.

All of this means that if you want to add something to an old idea you need to start a new thread which brings out the old "Do a search before you post" types.

If you don't want to re-hash an old idea then don't open the thread.

I was bored waiting for the offtime arena to open and i did a search using the word search in the wishlist section.  this is what came up. note how recent the dates are.

I'm not saying people don't use the search function, just a lot of people don't. I see a lot of post that have been repeated in the past. It's not a bad thing if the original topic is several years old, but It would unclutter a lot of the topics on ALL the boards if this was to be implemented.  It's very possible to bump a thread up and say this topic needs to be revisted. I'm getting ready to do it right now.

Part of the problem with searches, is that this board goes back to at least 2001. Personally I think anything older than several years old should be archived and shelved someplace else for viewing. As far as the "wishlist", i made one the other day and was told almost immediately to put on my fire suit. Let me say this about that, if HTC didn't want outr imput, there wouldnt be a wishlist. If enough people speak up, maybe it will become a reality. No one should be flamed for an idea, no matter how ridiculous. If you don't like it, move on. Very simple.
