As Allied CIC I just wanted to add some notes on the things I saw last night. Overall  the set-up seemed ok,  both sides seemed to attack their objectives.  We knew that the jets would outclass us. Nothing really new there. :joystick:
Thanks to  all of my guys that stuck in there and battled it out to the end!
 :salute to Tracerx for finding me and settling the A87 problem. A87 had no town to attack so we decided among cic's to let field be target. (Please adjust for frame 2, CMs)
I dont know about anyone else but everytime I tried to ride with a allied player it put me in the floor of the plane unable to see anything. (Possible bug).
Planes under so many feet lost their icons.
Most of the allied guys enjoyed their sorties. Some did'nt like the yak 9t's with worthless ammo package...

Like I said, overall it was a ok event and it seems that most of the guys enjoyed it.. Thanks FSO team and all who flew the event....   :salute

Yeah... I was flying "opposing force" for our FSO training last night prior to the event.  While the YAK seemed to handle better than the 109's at lower speeds... and has decent speed for not having WEP, the shortage of guns doesnt give it much staying power.  I got pummeled over and over again by my squaddies during training in that ride.  :uhoh

I am still confused about much of the 07JAN11 event.  It was not a historic setting with the wrong planes doing the wrong jobs (262's were never used in offensive capacities, Yak9T's were not air-cap, etc), at that point in the war the allies had many more troops in the fight than the axis did, etc.  My squad didn't understand  any of this either, we thought FSO's were historically based events.

While FSO is setup to create a historical atmosphere, Certain aspects must be changed or modified to create a fair and enjoyable event. I usually aim for 50/50 splits in my FSO designs. From the Rules:

As far as aircraft doing the wrong jobs... Well, that's the responsibility of the Side CIC. It is their job to decide how the Me-262 or Yak-9T is going to be used.

Perhaps the Yak-9T would of been better suited in an offensive role against the Towns or Field Objects.

Yes we have had a few What-If FSOs, but remember that all FSO's should allow for either side to win no matter what the historical details.

It seems there would have also been a number of the "lend lease" aircraft used by the Red Air Force deployed over the skies of Germany at the closing days of the war.  In AH, these aircraft are:

P-40
P-39 Airacobra
Hawker Hurricane    
Spitfire Mk V    
P-47 Thunderbolt
Spitfire Mk IX
B-25 Mitchell
A-20  / Boston

It would give a much larger array of resources to the Soviet side, and allow for more tactics to be employed.  As it stands, the only "bomber" available to the Red Air Force in this FSO is the IL-2... and given its abilities and performance, I would doubt we will see any high level attacks with them. 

Adding Bostons, A-20's, and B-25's into the mix would keep it "theoretically historical" while adding dimension to the frames.  Adding a few of the higher performance fighters would also give them some limited options for escorts and defense.

I'm flying for the AXIS side this time around and I like AKP's idea of a few medium bombers for the Russian side along with a few capable escorts.  Not many just a few.  In numbers that would match the 152's and 262's that the AXIS is using.  The only problem could be in the ALLIES ability to cause more damage faster to the objective targets which would then throw off the points.

 I flew axis in 234s.   I asked my squaddies at the start what the USSR had to stop the jets. We made it in twice practically unopposed. Credit goes to the sweep, but it couldnt have been much fun for the enemy. It was barely any fun for us. More like putting in our time.

 :salute Tuk151, it was a fairly even fight. 

I wish to make a comment on those complaining about the matchup.  Had the 9T's ran into a bunch of 190A-8's and F-8's we would not be having the discussions we are on this frame.  As a side CIC, it is not possible to predict the matchups accurately all the time.  It would make sense that the largest airfield would have had a good contingent of ground attack aircraft assigned to attack it.  As Axis CIC I messed up and assigned extra 109's instead of 190's to attack A88 because I was trying to match the aircraft requested by the squads, and left a hole in my attack strength at A88.  We only had 8x234's, and they only hit 2-3 of the 14 hangers on the first trip.  Had all the yaks rearmed and remained on station, they would have had a chance at getting the 234's that made an NOE attack with almost no air cover on the second strike.  We did not shoot down that many Yaks on the first strike.

I was not invlolved in frame 1 as I was still on vacation. One of my squaddies was there in my stead to lead the rest on a defensive assignment. There was some confusion on what we had to defend. The base was supposed to have a town, but as it turns out it did not. There was a city strat nearby so it was decided that it would suffice in place of the town. Stuff happens.
 My beef is with whomever spoke up in the tower telling the CiC for the frame to use squad channel when in the tower. The CiC was trying to clear it with my squaddie as to what we were to defend. There was a bit of confusion almost right up to launch. In my opinion this a serious lack of respect to the CiC. Yes, they could have used a private channel, but when you are CiC for a frame you don't have a lot of luxury and time to do that. You just want to clear it up and move on to the next question/problem. There is no reason to be rude. I feel someone owes the CiC an apology if it has not already been done. Again, I was not there, but I'm not letting this slip by without comment. I trust my friend.

Why the P-47?  i thought they did not used them because they where to heavy for them to fight.

Was just listing off the planes they were issued that we have in game...  I should have left it off the list as I dont think any of the models we have were the ones issued.

ok.   I am a bit surprise that the allies do not have the B-25 and/or A-20.

Soviet Bombers outside of the IL-2 were left out because I was trying to focus the event around JABOs and Heavy Fighters.

How is a Il-2 a JABO or Heavy fighter and the A-20 is not?  Just asking, not trying to start something.

What I wanted was to have a plane set focused on fighters and JABOs. The IL-2 is a single engine attack aircraft, that's why I decided to go with it and not the A-20G, Boston III, or B-25. I was hoping that people would enjoy flying fighters in the JABO/Strike role over having to fly aircraft like the Boston or B-25 in a 1945 setup.

Besides Ar234 the Luftwaffe has to use the 190F-8 to carry any more ordinance than just 1 single 250 KG Bomb.

Looking at the scores for Frame 1, the Allies destroyed more objects than the Axis and kept the score fairly close, hard to believe after the reaction to frame 1.

As for others, they do not like the 190D/109G-14, 109-K, 262 and 234 fighting the Il-2, La-5, Yaks and P-39a.  the La-7 has a fair chance of even balance.  That is true to a certain extent however, ppl are forgetting history.  Russians had air dominance at the time, we don't in this event.  If the axis want to have the 1:3 ratio event, that would be great.

Bannor Posted something earlier today that I would like to (reflect) on. First of all Bannor, sorry you could'nt make it. Your Xo performed his duties as a Co perfectly! :salute. He contacted me b4 the launch and notified me of a map problem that was out of my hands. Once I rialized I had a big problem, I immediatly went to the country text to dissovle the situation, thinking the cm would be observing the channel.. Mystic was the Cm bouncer or set-up and he told me to look for Nefarious. I looked for nef and could'nt find  him so I told the allied to defend 87 base (field). (MY call).  In the next 2-5 minutes TracerX(CIC Axis) reached me via pm, and told me that Field should be target. We agreed as cic's for the 87 field to be target.  As soon as I figured this out I went to your squads base and ask for your xo on range( 1 minute till launch). :bolt:I asked for your xo on range and got him. Then someone of another squad told me to "quit using range" then I said " I am Tuk151 cic and I wil use the range if I want to..  That was it.    Enough said.
Thanks for backing me up Bannor. I respect the squad the guy is in, and the co is a good friend of mine. I think all that were there, heard it on range, and they should know that CIC can use the range, whenever he wants to prep his pilots at the last second.  That being said, Bannor thanks for your honorable post, and I will have your back.  Lets have a good next frame  .. PS. Hitech, give me at least 10 text channels to use as CIC... :pray
