Title: Town ack and troops

I wish that town ack couldn't kill troops if the are not directly in it's line of fire.


Furthermore, I wish that troops couldn't run through buildings and hedgerows on their way to the maproom.

Hard to model but troops would push through hedges and houses generally have doors n windows so passing through again not a problem.

Ack isnt terribly realistic taking out ground troops but hard to code otherwise, think of it as local resistance fire if you like as we lack the ability to deploy defensive infantry.

sometimes youre in a town with GVs camping the town from the enemy :rolleyes: BEFORE the M3s arrive (or if the M3 screwed up, youre holding the town again for another 5-10 minutes cut off from the other allies). so why have this messed up cuz something near physically impossible happens and kills you? you dont GV that much do ya tralfz?

Pushing through hedges and doing some fancy parkour/freerunning through the buildings isn't really the problem I guesss.

It's just that they do it soooo fast! Perhaps a solution would be to simply slow them down or even halt them for a set time when they reach an obstacle. This would promote better C-47 piloting and maybe some more realistic DZ planning.


As far as the ack goes, in the world of 0's and 1's, perhaps the ack could be coded to not fire when pointed at a building or hedgerow. Of course there would have to be range limitations placed on this, otherwise someone could simply drive a vehicle and hug the hedgerows thereby negating any enemy fire.

Much to think about really.

I GV plenty Bar.  Guns pop and will kill you when you get into their territory, its part of the game and Im sure if you were defending from the campers, thats your only salvation. Sucks to be you in that situation..deal with it  :cry

Remember when towns were half the size? (in area)

Nowadays, they say that guns waaaaay across town are killing troops through bushes and buildings. That is lame and should be changed.

never cared for the buildings (even if that pasky church ruined a take). just hate the new town ack setup. least in old towns the ack wouldnt kill u through the oldoldold hedgerows :aok

Here you all go if you need to find the auto acks this will get you pretty close to them in GV's. Streets named & colour coded.

"Be careful what you wish for".
Certain aspects of the game needs to be fixed, but also realize it could work against you which most people tend to forget.

I can bet a week salary that the same guys complaining about the town ack would most certainly praise it when the situation pleases them. Its fine the way it is. Better awareness and communication is whats needed. Yell at the guy who didnt take down all AA at the same time so you dont have any doubts as when it starts to pop  :)

-1 on town ack killing troops, but +1 on making troops run around bushes. If a Tiger can't run over a bush why should a trooper be able to :salute
