You're right I think I still have some P-38 caught in my teeth.
-
ok good , i had my P-40 ripped to pieces by a 190 earlier. Thats why I asked lol
-
Hey Shifty! Thanks for not shooting up my Fiend patch. :aok We have them made as magnetic signs so they can be taken of off the old broken up rides and quickly slapped on a new plane. Can't find a crew chief with any artistic talent. So, we had to contract out with a local graphics shop. :rofl
-
It looks really good on that 49th FG P-40. Were the fiends part of the 347th I can't recall off hand?

i think my 2 favorites are the first pic, and the one with the spitfire about to go down.

Back in the day, I'm not sure, Shifty. In more modern times they are under the 51st TFW. The modern day 347TFW and associated squadrons have the proud history of being the ones who tracked down and killed Yamamoto.

You're a pilot AND a crew chief too?! Wow, you're hired! Are you sure that doesn't break some kind of a union rule?
'
-
Who da thought the P-38 couldnt stay airborne without it's twin booms. Definitely a single point of failure.

Probably more effective as a crew chief and I never tell the union guys :D
-
The Fiends are always looking for good crew chiefs. The couple of guys we have now are always laying around napping and watching Oprah. Half the time we have to reload the airplanes ourselves. It just ain't right! :furious

yeah 347th was another of the real world Fighter Wings I served in while in the USAF.
I served in the 20th 355th and 347th as well as the 602th which was a FAC wing and I'm not real sure if they were around in WWII.
-
When and where were you in the 347th?
-
It was my last wing. 1992-1994 at Moody AFB Valdosta GA.
-
I was there 84 - 87. :salute
