Title: New Terrain Released - The Grinder
Post by: Amaazee on January 13, 2011, 04:33:48 PM
Thanks for the new map.

MidWar may have a bunch of tards and turdletes but this new map makes up for it all.  :rock

 :salute

SN: I don't think Off Hours will ever see it unless Bish horde wins-te-war

Yeah it is a beautiful map.  Well, even a pigs tit would look good if it were new ;)

Now if they could just get us a new map every month for a year then we would have enough in rotation to keep us motivated for well over two weeks  :neener:

No IMG.  It is in Early and Mid war and is apparently slated for Late War.  Named 'Grinder'.   :D

Good elevation changes, seems to have good VBase and spawn arrangement.  Doesn't seem to be long drives.  Nice cloud layers.  Nice beach and water effects.

Large central ocean with 3 small islands, each with an un-capturable port and corresponding CV's.  Outer circular landmass.  There are  other ports as well, each having a spawn into them, something I always felt missing on too many maps.

Definitely has potential, but will require some more play time.  Right now it's new and therefore, impressive, but I'm easily pleased.   :D

It is in the map rotation for Orange.

Skuzzy said so himself in Orange this morning...

The terrain is wonderful, I like how the water colour changes in the delta and the depth appearance close to the shore.

I actually lured some of my old squad mates out of World of Tanks with the new map in MW yesterday.  Good work HTC <S>.

We didn't do it, MachNix created this terrain.  He did some really nice detail work in there.

Interesting call on the three uncapturable center ports.

And the round shape will confuse those that like to hide cvs in the corner...

WOULD this be a good place to say:

you can have a new map every single week, guaranteed in the AvA?

The Grinder map is actually quit old and was collecting such an excellent layer of dust that there where plans to plant some potatoes.  But those plans got dashed about six months ago when Skuzzy asked about updating it.  So I spent a few days getting it to the current standard and Skuzzy I believe, in his spare time when he is not keeping the servers running or fixing the internet or scrubbing the bulletin boards or whatever else he does that no one can understands, got it the rest of the way.  You can also thank the War Department at HTC for making those three central ports un-capturable and giving you, in essence, a free task group.  I would have left it up to each country's Admiralty to decide if they wanted to keep the task group in port or risk the port's capture by sailing the task group away.

Making maps is a team effort and all those involved are now greatly concerned whether the decrease in the supply of potatoes will cause an increase in the price of vodka.  I better stock up.

Well, <Salute> to you and the rest of the "team" then, good job.  The un-capturable ports is actually a good idea, but my concern is that with that large expanse of water, there is no real reason to go out there.  Boats will get moved about, possible an occasional CV battle, but mostly unused space methinks.  Skuzzy said that he thinks it will get used more in the main arena's and we will have to test it out and see.  I like the map a lot though, very playable with limited numbers.  MA use will be the acid test.

So ... since it has been reset already, can we get this one for the "Off Hours" arena?
