Me and my squad o hunter's turned the dog's out a few day's ago and this buck came out of the brush wide open . My friend and I were standing side by side and shot at the same time . We both are shooting 270 . I shot and the buck hit the ground like a ton of brick's but wait my friend said he shot too. We must have shot at the same time . I never heard his gun go off . I am pretty sure I killed the deer but my friend feel's the same way so what do I do ? I have already killed 3 buck's so I give it to him but am sure I killed it . It would not be that big of deal if he did not have such a nice rack but oh well he mite have killed the deer , we are both great shooter's . I hate when some thing like this happen's .

Yall shootin different ammo woulda looked for differnt wound pattern or if he still had 5 rounds in his gun. :devil
did ya see 2 entry wounds how bout exit wounds. asked him where he remebers holding the sights just before hittin the trigger.
Myself Id told him no way and took that one does have a nice rack but Im more after the meat myself..... :D

that buck was a small body deer . We kiled one the day before that was right at 300 hundred pound's but had a rat rack on him . Some are big body and some are not ...seems like this year if he has a big body the smaller the rack and if he has a small body bigger the rack .Not sure what's up with that .

The buck had dog's on him and he was bouncing all over the place . All I know is as soon as I got him it the scope I pulled the trigger and dude said same . What's bad about it is that he was shooting my ammo and the deer just had one hole in him .

I'm in TN as well, and we only get 3 bucks a year.

Nice, here in PA we get 1 only (and antler restrictions based on where your hunting) ie 3 or 4 on a side.
Doe's are different, some areas are 1 only, some are as many as you have tags for, or for tags available by the county.

One entry point? So one of ya missed - no way of saying who as you were both using the same ammo. I'd toss a coin to see who keeps the rack (please send venison this way, not had any for an absolute age)

I let the guy have him because I get to hunt when I want to and my friend don't and he had not killed a deer this year . As far as the rack , no big deal .Probably got over a 100 in the shop now . Now if it was a stranger I would have took the deer . My dog's my deer or half anyway and probably a fight , happen before . Dam guy's (strangers)now day's want to kill the deer in front of my dog's and run with it . What happen the the good old day's where they would split it with you ?

Dude, I've already learned that hardly anybody wants to split anything anymore. It's a shame, too. Two or three of us used to go coyote hunting, sell the pelts, and split the money. It got to where "splitting the money" became harder than killing the coyotes.

Nice buck man :aok. I think that Tennessee should have a earn your buck tag like other states. We are over run with doe in my area. I didn't see any big deer this year around here it's all scrawny little stuff. Too many doe eating up all the food.

I would definitely split the meat with him, as a minimum. Also, what round was he shooting? Hard to tell the difference between most calibers but if he was shooting say a 22-250, or something smaller, or a 7mm, something bigger, you could sort it out. I've been around both .270 and 30-06 and really little difference with exit wounds. I shoot a Remington BDL .270, love it!
I'm amazed at how many times I have heard stories of crappy shooters arguing their way into taking someone elses kill. About the only thing they are good at is bullsh**n. Really ruins a good hunt.

I happen to own the largest pair of 2-pt Mule deer horns ever shot. They don't score high enough on Boone n Crocket because they are only 2-pts but 30 inch spread! Taken in Southern Utah back in the day when they grew big Mule Deer.
Seriously, this monster would stomp the crap out of virtually all 4-pts, if we are bragn that is.

A friend of mine from Iron City keeps inviting me to go hog hunting with him, I just haven't had the time because work. That and I'd rather stay away from Iron City. I would like to kill one though.

I have been hunting white tail deer for over 20 years now, and I still have not found a recipe for antlers.......
I have had that happen though, I shoot a deer with a 12 gauge and it runs 100 yards to only get shot by someone else and they claim it.

Boy , it just burn's me up when that happens . Knowing the deer is already dead . One reason I quit using a shotgun to dear hunt with . We get a lot of that running dog's .

I would have definately checked how many rounds he had in the magazine. Then when you prove he didn't kill it call BS and tell him to keep it because you feel sorry for him and his poor shooting skills. :devil

Hogs are the main thing I hunt. The big ones really don't taste that good and the meat is tough. But if you kill one of the smaller ones they taste pretty good. Way better than deer.
I'm in north Texas and hunt on a place that borders the Red River. It's hog Heaven up there. Deer Heaven to lol.

deer meat is good eatin, but I like Bison better, im not a hunter bein a felon and all, cant own a gun, but I have gone huntin, many years ago, jumped a massive buck, he got away, on my way back a rabbit jumped out in front of me and ran straight ahead he paused 1 second to turn and I let loose with the buckshot, lol pretty much decappatatted him, lol when we got home the kids asked if we shot bambi, I said nope, but we got thumper......lol

Only issue with having a large group of hunters. A couple years ago I shot a doe with my muzzleloader, and it ran for a bit before it went down and someone shot at it again. Could tell I hit it because of the entry hole. We had plenty of meat so I let the other guy have it anyway.

Rusty~in my younger days I woulda been all over that! But my back is shot from inkin for so long, besides I hate the damn cold lol really messes with my lower back, I like indoor activities with the wife ;-)

Kinda sorta dangerous both shooters going for it, usually when I go hunting with someone one person takes the lead, only gets the hot rifle (ie round up the spout), the second guys follows, unloaded. It's safer, no arguments over who shot what. You take your turn and take your shot.
Oh I don't really get how feed stations and sitting in a treehouse all day is hunted :devil

i remember 2 years ago, people lost there lives because for some reason deers wouldnt be scared of cars anymore. they'd stand out in the middle of the road and wouldnt budge even if a car was coming straight for them.

You're right, deer hunting in Ohio is quite good.
You're wrong. They don't usually or ever extend the hunting seasons for that year because the dates are published in advance. Over the last few years the seasons have added extra days and youth only gun season but nothing particularly substantial. They're published in advanced as I mention and nobody gets extra time at the end. It's hunting, not soccer (football)
You're correct deer kills can be heard aloud. You will have better results being quiet.
You're wrong. Deer in the headlights isn't a new expression.
There's also no such thing as "deers." I didn't realize that text could actually hurt my ears from reading it but from this post I'm actually wincing.

The best place to hunt " deers " I think is in Indiana.
1.There are way more "deers" there.
2.The limit of "deers" to be taken is quite high, in LaGrange County your allowed up to 9 with all your county and state bonus.
3.The "deers" in Indiana are HUGE
This is coming from a lifetime Ohio resident and I have been hunting in Ohio for over 25 years and I say that about Indiana. Ohio are Nazi's on deer regulations. My brother-in-law wo lives in laGrange County road gunned a mechanical deer with his turty ought 6 and ten DNR agents appeared out of nowhere. He got a $100.00 fine....In Ohio him and is vehicle would have went to jail!

9 "deers" total or 9 bucks? We can kill three doe a day but only get three buck tags.

They are doing that down here as well but if you can't tell a real deer from a fake one you need a ticket . They have three on a Mary-go-round like thing here where they can pop up and take it down in a hurry . I have already had it in my scope .Could not figure out what it was so I walk out to it . It was working too but did not see the AGENTS no where . I got the heck out of there right fast like .Good thing I did not shoot from the road or I would have been BUSTED ...That's what they are after down here . I bet they did not know what to think when I walked out to it . I know that they were there some where , lol .Freak me out !!

Would have to agree with Golfer, nothing against hunting but if I see it all the time where I go I can imagine the discompfort a noob family out on a drive might have comming around the bend in a road and encountering a group of rifle-toting old men standing in the middle of the road... not to mention the road hazard (which is my gripe, 55mph speed limit and I don't want no speed bumps with rifles! :furious ). Especialy since if he wants to go about it lazily he can go legaly sit in a treehouse or shoot from the seat in his boat in some states I believe.

here in Oregon we get 1 deer a year, granted if you can find one that's not living on a pay to hunt Ranch, the state has killed off any good hunting by allowing and supplementing these big ranches to care for the Elk and Deer during the winter, they get big and fat and lazy and just remain on the ranches year round mostly, most of the large ranches (they all border BLM land) are all fenced with 10ft pig wire, with locked gates that they open ( durning the ruts) to let the Animals in, If you get caught on any of the ranches its jail time or worse ya get Shot at, but if you have 4 to 5 grand they will "let" you hunt on there land, sure you have your state tag drawings for the area's also, but the amount of tags sold for each area is far far more than the wildwife in the area, ( thanks ranchers)
i used to really love to hunt and looked forward to ever season, but now with how much it costs and how scarce the Animals are ( on blm land ) it's turned into the rich mans sport here

Yeah, hunters from Oregon go through the trouble to come down into California even for some better results I hear (and see, via the oregon plates on their trucks/cars).

Just to be clear, hitting them with our cars. I bagged two of em in the last decade, and have the repair estimates to prove it!

I will have to check on which deer can be taken.
The only reason they give you a ticket instead of jail for poaching in Indiana is because there are so many deer, and someone shooting one out of season saves someone's car or life down the road as " THEY " see it.
I hunt within the law I do not poach, and I do not hunt with those who do.
