Title: 190D Fans
Post by: Mirage on January 18, 2011, 03:36:06 AM
I have started flying the Fw 190D-9 as opposed to the A-5 now (Just something about it, the looks, the speed, and I just find it cool with its annular radiator and big 213 Jumo)
and have ordered the Book "Long Nose Fw 190: An Illustrated History" By Dietmar Harmann (He also has 2 other books 1 about the A seires 190, and 1 about the Ta-152)
and also looking for more info on this plane, I stumbled across this website, and found it very interesting http://www.wwiiaircraftperformance.org/fw190/fw190d9test.html (http://www.wwiiaircraftperformance.org/fw190/fw190d9test.html)
I am sure some of you who have been interested in the D series 190's longer then me have seen this before, but I thought I would post it just incase

read and enjoy fellow enthusiasts  :salute

Its an antenna, some 109's had it too, but it doesn't show it in the game

so they had an antenna stuck UNDER the wing? what was the purpose to that?

well the signals from the ground are traveling up, so why put it on the other side of the plane and make the waves passthrough all the ribbing and sheet metal of the airplane :)

Without seeing what you mean I'd say it is the aerial for FuG16ZY formation leader's "tracking aerial" and the antenna type is called "Morane aerial".

These speed carts all seem to have the FW190-D with a slower speed than the P-51D. I have always read other wise in other books and such.
