What bugs me the most about auto puffy is the fact that the microsecond you pass above 3000, you get hit by ack. Amazing psychic skill of the gunners to know when and where you'll pass above that threshold.

discussed untill disgusted. Auto ack is the most unrealistic part of this game. It shoots through mountains and is totaly based on the size of the target.
Fighters get hit more because the "box" is focused on a small taget.
Bombers that make up 4 times the size of a fighter rarely get a scratch and there is three "most of the time"
The auto ack can hit a fighter diving at 450 MPH but cant hit a level 280 mph foot ball field flying in a staight line.

Oh yeah, and a fighter maneuvering miles and miles away is still likely to get hit, I'd like to see a change in how that is done.

hmm....... you must not be from around the Foot Hills of NC or know of Boone or North Wilkesboro and other places in NC.... those up there near the Tennessee River claim theirs is the best too.... comes close to even at times, but most times is just a close second <grin>

Nerfed or not, I wanna be shot down by a real person, not a random number generator that assesses I'm 10 miles away cruising at 15K in my P51--- first barrage of puff ack and I'm chillin in the tower.

it is nerfed but there are times when puffy is just beyond annoying... let the poofs kill bombers more often and harder for fighters OR in my opinion ill take full realism with it :ahand

it was a fluke for you. if you want realism auto guns for bases and towns and fleets, thered be no base takes...

I think if they made the boxes around fighters and bombers the same size, there wouldn't be nearly as many whines.
Fighters would never get hit.
Neither would bombers.

Hillsboro! I have a couple buddies that fly out of KHIO, one is a heli CFI and the other is a fixed wing in training. Hope to be doing my PPL very soon... :pray

I say make all auto ack more accurate, if ya want to get close then run the risk ;) otherwise have the furball a tad further out :)

Has anyone from HTC explained this? I hate to guess at how its modeled. It seems like no mater how hard you manuver the box is fixed on your center.
1). Is there any benefit to taking evasive manuvers?
2). Is it just random generation regardless of manuvering?
It should be like bird hunting.
I fire my gun, the bird sees my muzzle flash and it turns, my shot is going to be where the bird was (hopefully) and I would miss.
In the game it seems like if you (the bird) manuver the shots fired bend to your new location.
Is this an accurate description?

Actually, yes. A single formation of buffs coming in even bellow 3K should not be able to get to the CV. A fighter 5K out twisting and turning in a dog fight should be safe. The fact that you can safely get to the CV just because you are under 3K is a joke. The fact that a maneuvering fighter can get picked off by the auto ack at 5K or longer distances is also a joke.

And I I'm pretty sure the gunners aimed to kill the closest threat? Everytime I get hit by the 5" I'm no where near the ship. :huh

Ack is fine even 10 miles out. What they should do is have a Hit % set for distance away from carrier. Lets say u are 10 miles out. Ack hit % on u be set to like 1 % chance of hitting u with a progressively higher % as u move closer to the CV up to like 50% if u less then 1k from the CV regardless of alt (Even at 100 feet).
