Title: AKAK
Post by: Ardy123 on January 25, 2011, 02:53:59 AM
Sorry man... didn't mean to drag you though the ack, I stalled like a two weaker so I took the fight into a downward scissors... didn't even cross my mind that there was a base there...

btw we should duel some time, would be fun... (and I promise I won't fight over my ack)

Dragging AckAck to the ack is actually a tactic of mine.  Effective at times.

Sounds like the words of someone who like to hang close to their base collecting proxies rather then earn their pay.

Course I could be wrong. But it wouldnt surprise me

No worries, we were in a downward spiral fight that took us over your V base at the end.  I was sleepy and logged afterwards since it was late.

The point is that both of these players are "fighters" they both would rather fight it out man to man until the end. Either would have dis-engaged had some one would have jumped in to "help". To these guys the fight is what its all about. You use you plane to the best of your abilities and see who wins. Seeing as neither plane had an ack gun it was considered by the one player as a advantage he shouldn't have had/used and so he apologized for it.

It was a honorable thing to do.

Running with your tail between your legs is not a tactic.  No rules needed.  If you like being the one that runs so be it.  But as in everything else in life, if your tactic is to run, you may expect people to express their respect towards you  :old:

As someone else posted, these two are not runners.  They would rather take a virtual death than run.  Not sure why you had to stick your nose in this thread but feel free to run from it with your tail between your legs  :lol

in a duel there is no point in it obviously, but true one v one dueling is very structured and quite frankly boring as hell after the first several thousand same plane 5k cold merges have transpired.  In free for all main arena combat it is as valid as any other tactic that brings about the demise of the red.  A great tactic actually.  Ive dragged many a tough boy cartoon warriors like you through the ack and I cherish the death of each one of them.

Yesh.  First you got to bait the hook, then when you get a bite yank it a bit and just drag em though nice and easy.  Pull em in and whack em on the head, slice em and dice em, then rip the head off.  Rinse and repeat.  Works wonders

Lots of "valid" tactics are chickenshat and cowardly, just saying.

You have some blurb about "gunfighting" in your sig... in that theme, ack running is no different than challenging a man to a gunfight, then turning and running while your buddy draws down on the other guy with a rifle from the saloon window. Yes, it was a valid tactic to let someone else do your fighting for you. It doesn't make you less of a chickenshat coward, however.

Ack running from a horde of gangers all fighting to see whick one of the 4 or 5 of them is gonna kill ya first is different. Running from a 1v1?

Pffft.

Nancy.

Who said this was a duel? Some people play this game with class and honor, those are two of them. It was a good fight and normally it would have been to the end with one of them loosing a cartoon airplane. To them the fight is more important than the kill. Well other than braggin rights  :D

Re-read my sig with intent to comprehend.  No relationship to ack dragging.  I have always found the HO whiners to be a most disagreeable lot and that little ditty explains my take on it.  Thats all

Honor?  Not a driving force for me when I play.  Not important at all.  Just saying......pfffft

Im here for two reasons.  To further my love for WW2 aviation and to put to death all the red dots any way, any how.

Again, those that don't know the story shouldn't be commenting on what happened.  Ardy didn't run to acks, we started our fight away from the V base but the fight evolved into a downward rolling scissors that brought us unintentionally close to the V base acks and I got wounded and crashed.

I suppose if you look at your sig meaning "any gun that gets you a kill, even if it is not your own, is great,"  then I see your point. Happy hunting (running) then, ack running proxy king Nancy boy.

Basically when you have run out of speed and you are locked into a rolling scissor (who ever breaks first dies)..so you are using the speed you make falling to keep getting up and over...eventually you get to the deck and it's the first not to auger hahaha

I run an X52Pro no pedals though.  You should let your cousin know that the 3DPro doesn't need any software downloaded iirc.  I might even have an extra one laying around somewhere I'd be willing to send your way for no cost.  (Just have to remember where I put the damn thing)

I'm a technical instructor for a roadside auto repair company, so I travel about 85% of the time through the year.  I'm in Cincinasty one week every month.  But all in all its a great job. Just need to get one of those fancy gaming laptops.

I can say its safe to assume you have never seen me fly at all then :) I had a stint in the Dora then reverted back to the A-5, due to it being more survivable in a 1v1, if you want a friendly 190A-5 fight, come find me anytime, and I would be happy to Learn from, and also share my (somewhat limited) knowledge of it with you

only time ive ever seen you in the DA was once, you asked "whos the guy was that allways flies buffs in here?". and i responded "me, but i dont fly them unless theres atleast around 30 ppl in the room"

other than that,nothing.

there is a 190 dweeb in there who for the past week ive seen climbs to about 15-20k, then just flies around the lake up there. a friend of mine went up there after him one day, and the 190 pretty much HO'd him as soon as he got up there. this same 190 tried to engage my buffs one day, but ran off scared after 1 little ping.
as soon as i get this DA hanger bug fixed, im gonna climb to 20k and shoot that 190 down, just to see "you have shot down MIRAGE #1" pop up in my chat box.

Thats why he flies 38s.......................... .easy mode enough so he can be good with a mouse :aok

Ack,throwing age around a game forum is no way to prove your point.

games were created with "kids" as the target audiance, so calling someone a kid on a game forum really has no significance to it other than to try to throw your age around. so in a way, your old age would make you the outcast on a game forum.

It would be a better combat simulator if the opposing sides were not capable of communicating with each other.  That part of the "game", the open channel taunting and insulting, has probably done as much harm as good over the years and seriously detracts from the combat simulation.  Opposing forces in war tend to speak different languages anyway.

Some years back a player I respected very much commented to me on his belief that if he could maintain a 5:1 K/D then he considered his tour a success.  I have pursued that doctrine of 5:1 per tour as my goal ever since.  So far this tour I have 177 kills and 33 deaths (5.36 K/D).  Combat for me may be different then it is for you......I dont know and I dont care how you play, but I have developed a sense of landing being preferred to dying.  I have died in the game 10,000+ times so I know how to do that, easy.  Landing kills is what gives me satisfaction these days so I do pretty much whatever I can to get kills and land em.  Thats how I play, thats how I enjoy my game time.  I try to avoid the smack talk cultists and I never insult another player when I kill him and I never fail to return a salute.

Exactly!

I waged combat and won against 177 player controlled machines.  33 player controlled machines waged combat against me and won.

I mean unless you are just talking about furballing.......that got ever so intensely boring around the fourth or fifth year.  Most people don't even bother after that initial onset of acute boredom brought about by doing the same thing over and over and over again and just leave the game.  Furballing, what you may be referring to as "combat" really is very limiting and unsatisfying after a while.  Especially in a game like AH where there are so many different things to do.

Me? I have reinvented the way I view/play the game several different times.  One has to do this to remain interested as long as I have.

Aces High takes the art and science of vintage WW1 and WW2 air combat and sets it in a high intensity online multiplayer environment.  Hundreds of players simultaneously battle it out against each other in massive aerial dogfights and bomber raids.

High fidelity flight simulation is the heart of Aces High but it doesn't end there.  A war rages on the ground and at sea.  Engage enemy armor in tank combat.  Protect your fleet as a gunner or make a torpedo run in a PT boat.  Lead an assault in an amphibious vehicle.  With over 100 warbirds, vehicles, and boats available, you have access to a vast virtual arsenal.

Take part in special events such as historical scenarios where famous battles are recreated and reimagined or try your hand at air racing at tree top level against skilled competitors,"In the air, on land, and at sea, the battle rages 24 hours a day with participants from around the world.  Take our free two week trial and find out why Aces High is the online game for you."

check the midwar stats under SLIMpkns.  Been pretty active the better half of last year to now.

I'm not a great ACM stick per'se.  Lots of guys can hand my donut to me in MW in a knifefight, but I have developed a fairly good set of strategies that let me prevail a healthy percentage of my sorties.....usually.....for the most part, generally speaking.

I wouldn't mind doing some DA work with a decent stick.  It's been a while.

"you"have developed..lol you are flying like it is real life, nothing"you"have developed. Its a tried and true way of staying alive, speed =life and if we really died I could see why its so important to fly like that..but seriously it takes all kinds so have fun if you are thats all that matters..just dont think like so many that because your "score/rank"is better then someone elses that you are a better stick.I LOVE it when someone says to me "look at your rank you suck"lol, see how long they survive in a 1vs1 at equel situation, thats the thing flying like you do,youll never truly get to understand ACM or put it into practice, untill you get in there and "let it all hang out"so to speak, workin that plane till you know it inside and out. Know exactly what that plane will do in ALL sitiuations, every single plane I fly I know exactly what it will do,and what I can make it do,only way thats possable is I have always fought period, not "fight" when I have all the cards. whatever tough fly how u want. No, its really very simple and was a real breakthrough in my development when I realized that no matter how many times I upped, flew around doing all sorts of neat fighter combat stuff and shot down 4-5 guys, I almost always died eventually.  Just a matter of time before the recycling of everyone who dies eventually gets back up with enough energy, and I everntually lose enough energy and get whacked.  God it was a blast for years, furballing like that, learning the spits, the FM2s, all the neat little turn and burn rides but it just got boring.  In order to stay interested I got into a 51 squad and flew with a great bunch of guys for a few years.  Learned the planes strengths and its weaknesses and managed alright in it for the most part.  Somewhere in there I realized, that for me at least, landing the damned sortie actually had some value.  A benifit of the smaller MW arena is that there are enough people in there to make the fights interesting but also provide enough chance to get back to the field and land the kills I sometimes managed to accumulate.

Thats where Im at, and have been for the last few years.

Interestingly Ive recently become interested in the Brewster.  Thanks to a good collection of sound files its actually motivating to fly the little BrewHAHA.  Of course, I can go up in it, T&B three spits into flames, knock the wing off a F4U.....kill a overzealous 51 and land it and all I typically get on open channel is what an overmodeled pig the brewster is.  Oh well, this is where I make the point that what is most important is that I enjoy what I am doing.

I agree generally speaking, it is more fun to try and stay alive.  That doesn't mean flying like a timid girl, but at the very least trying to make well informed decisions that at least give you a chance to kill a lot of bad guys and get out out there neenering at them as you escape.

Again, those that don't know the story shouldn't be commenting on what happened.  Ardy didn't run to acks, we started our fight away from the V base but the fight evolved into a downward rolling scissors that brought us unintentionally close to the V base acks and I got wounded and crashed.

ack-ack
thats sortof what i mant hhmm maby i should be more specific
