That is definitely someones cherished toy. That clean a machine, especially one that tends to sling oil, is amazing. Like it just left the factory assembly line.
-
Dreamy :aok

Was there a particular occassion?

Was there a particular occassion?
It was stopping by so the crew could have lunch and take on fuel (they took 200 ga). It had apparently just come from maintenance inspections.
It truly was spotless. The only oil I saw was freshly from the engines, and even so it was a very small streak which is expected of those engines. Even the leaked oil was perfectly clean! Other than that, there was no grease whatsoever. I didn't take a picture up in the wheel well, but you could have eaten off those surfaces. I included the picture of the gear so you could see how flawless it is. The crew said they spend a total of two weeks spot cleaning it inch by inch. Sexy!!

Nice lookin' bird :aok
Thanks for the pics!

gear well is spotless and it even has crome landing gear!

That has a different tail. I think it's the "Super DC-3" which the Navy adapted as the Navy C-117D. I prefer the original tail, myself.

yes it is a super DC-3... even says that on the listing :) but it still is a beautiful aircraft. i mean chrome landing gear... just need to put some spinners on it :)

I managed to see one myself today. It's airworthy, and I love the paintjob.
The Carolinas Air Museum C-47 aka DC-3 :D

yup it came to PIT 3 years ago for the airshow. I believe it is the most origionally restored DC-3 out there.

couldn't think of the town. Not far from me. I remember when a drunk hit the plane outside the restaurant and knocked an engine off. I was actually thinking about volunteering my time although I know nothing about aircraft Restoration

DC-3 is the next plane we need or a C-54 lol. Just gotta find a free one :D
