Title: Fisher & Paykel
Post by: Dragon on January 26, 2011, 10:28:54 PM
So our clothes washer spun it's last load the other night an tonight we picked up a new machine from New Zealand. Any good or bad news on these things.  First load is just finishing, but the whole eco-friendly water temp reading thing seems a bit cooky.

I've had a fair bit of their stuff over the years, most of it of high quality.

They're sometimes a bit hit and miss - when they work well, they're great but I know a few people who have had problems.

This month Choice (an Australian consumer guide) rated the Fisher & Paykel MW512 as the best of the small washing machines available - but the rest lagged behind Asko Quattro, Bosch, Miele and the like for larger capacity machines. From the Choice reliability survey:

The model we bought:

Review after 1 load:  Between the lights, beeps and jet engine motor sounds, I LOVE IT.  It's like R2D2 is in the basement playing with a 747.  Nothing is too loud, but it can be heard upstairs.
