I've had it for a month and it's messin up already. The game is near brand new condition so I don't think it is the CD. When it freezes not even the power button works so I have to unplug the thing, at least the power and reset worked on the nintendo entertainment system when it froze. yikes
Anybody know how to resolve this?
Nintendo u screwed me again! :bhead

OP
I'm going on the impression that it's still under warranty? Take it back. Apparently there's something wrong with your unit. (you're welcome Sim)

Wouldn't that count as one though? :rofl

Make sure Air is getting into the machine, inspect the fans to make sure there is no dust or obstructions. Avoid placing it on top of other hot or warm electronics.

This was the biggest problem when I had a Wii. Especially after playing PS3 which was right next to it.

ps3 can get HOT. but ive never had an overheating problem with mine before, and ive kept it on for a whole week once
-
Are you talking about the PS3 having overheating or the Wii?
-
I don't like it when my wee is hot!

No one cares.

Anywho. Just move the Wii to a more open spot where heat will not be trapped in as easily. Might also help your cause to clear the dust out.
-
Ouch :(

thanks for the suggestions people, I thought it was in a fairly well ventilated area and didn't really feel all that warm when it froze but moved it to it's own personal dedicated wii area where nothing is around it now. Somebody had suggested sticking a vacuum in the slit to suck the wii clean, but I wasn't sure about it.
Anyways hopefully it doesn't freeze any more :pray

According to an associate who used to work at Gamestop, this is a fairly common complaint caused by a bad power supply. Return it to the point of purchase for an exchange.

That's why you buy a man system (PS3)

prove me wrong?
not saying ps3 doesnt get hacked, just ive never had the problem personally, and i rarely hear of any large scale problems with hacking on the ps3 untill recently(unlike 360, where ive heard mass hacking of games, the xbox market, etc)

You never answered my question, where do you get your info from? I want objective, not subjective data.

gamefaqs.com.
a website that has forums on allmost every game made. also other things.
theyve had many, many articles on hacking on the 360, but the only major article i saw involving hacking on the ps3 was the credit card hacking way back in 06'. and they fixed that a day later.

Nintendo has a reputation of making quite reliable electronics...
crapbox has been hacked alot more than ps3 has.
Oh, please, every time I play my friend's PS3 PSN is filled with level 60 10th prestiges that suck... 'PS3 doesn't get hacked as much as XBOX' lol
Granted, I know people that mod Xbox's and not PS3's, but that's because no one buys PS3's :lol

to stop your upcoming "ps3 has no games" rant: ps3 has more exclusives, and more GOTY than xbox.
to stop your upcoming "xbox is better than ps3"rant:systems alone, ps3 is much more reliable, has better graphics, and has won visual awards and the likes, all xbox has won is 2 lawsuits and a bunch of RROD complaints. i know from owning 2 previous 360s.
to stop your upcoming "XBL is better than PSN"rant: i'd rather take psn with its free online and web browser, than pay xbox to play online. plus psn downloads games and updates faster now than xbl.
and to answer what you just said: thats COD, its foolish to base how a system preforms off call of duty. plus xbl has been hacked aswell, only difference is psn punishes the hacking with banning, xbl punishes by just erasing memory and saying "dont do it again"
ive owned 2 360's in the past, and i currently own a ps3. the ps3 is the better console by far. unless youve owned both, please do not respond to this.otherwise you'll just be buying into what the biased reviews of each console.

any chance of ceasing the urinating contest and getting back on subject or is that too much to hope for?

ok, my advice: sell the wii, get a gamecube, ik ik "past gen" but i think the gamecube was better than wii. just my .02

Quite honestly there's one guy on this board that I would take his word as gospel for gaming platforms. I've owned all three systems and they all have their good points and bad points.
Moving right along to the op as I've said just take it back to where you bought it and get it replaced. Thats why they come with warranties.
Best of luck to you sir.

:O SERIOUSLY
I had no idea people could get so defensive about their preferred video game box. This is worse then the pointless Ford vs. Chevy vs. Dodge pickup truck arguments. Or the Canon v Nikon v all the rest over on Dpreview. But at least those are serious tools. I boggles my mind that anyone could get their proverbial panties in such wad over a toy.
Seems to me that some people need to see the real world a little more often.
FWIW. I only have a Nintendo, the original one, I play Duck Hunt, built in 1986 and still works flawlessly, which is better then most 25 yr old electronics.

only problem ive had is with my blu-ray not working for a day, and thats because i spilled water on it. it dried out and worked fine the next day.
the only universal problem ive heard of ps3 having was that clock bug that wouldnt let older "phat" ps3's log onto the internet, sony fixed that 3 days later.
-
Okay there's a story there T
Spill it.. no pun intended :P

eh, was going to watch a blu-ray movie on my ps3 while i ate dinner, was walking into the livingroom with my food&drink when my dog started jumping all over me (guess he smelled the steak).
ended up nocking the water out of my hand and it splattered my ps3 :/
the ps3 would turn on, but the blu-ray wouldnt. i just kept it off for the day to let it dry out, came on fine the next day. :)

Be glad it wasn't a margarita.
All of my systems are well out of harms way excluding my mouse and keyboard which are cheaply replaced.
I do have to giggle at a certain person who used to reside here that didn't heed my advice on the subject at hand in addition to regular cleaning :devil
-
Has the problem been taken care of yet?
-
ya the decree is in the filing cabinet :D
-
Ive had original PS3 60g since release. Never had to wipe it or have one problem. Everyone I know with a crapbox has replaced it ATLEAST one time since release.

MW2 has been hacked, my friend can't get in a single match without a hacker (on a PS3, mind you). The main draw for me is the small controller (since I've got tiny hands), the free multiplayer, and the consistent lack of whiny twelve-year olds (non-whiny twelve-year-olds are fine, though).
