Title: Beer Bottle COLOR ORGAN
Post by: G0ALY on January 28, 2011, 07:30:31 PM
Hello, I just finished another winter project. I wanted a beer light to put in my man cave… So I made my own. It consist of two music light kits, a half dozen empty beer bottles, a piece of scrap wood, some light sockets and extension cords. Back in the 70s these were called ’Color Organs”. Each light kit required me to solder about 75 electrical connections. Oddly, I really enjoyed doing it.

So now I have something to look at while enjoying a cold beer & good music.

Really nice there goaly.  I have seen more and more stuff popping up lately about color organs here lately.  Maybe they are going to be the next "retro vogue." :aok

Thanks! This song would not have been my first choice, but youtube will remove videos that contain copyrighted music. So I had to find a song that was available for public use.

As a drummer, it was the drum line that mad me immediately think Clyde Stubblefield.  EDIT: (even thought it was Herman Matthews in Tower of Power)

Here is a the studio version (some guy playing along with drums)

Hello, I made another short video of the beer bottle color organ. I believe that this music is better suited to show off the fact that there are six independent channels controlling the lights inside the beer bottles.

That would be neat, but I found that bottles with paper lables don't work real good. The light does'nt shine through and the lable just looks like a black square. Thanks though!

And Rev.. Yes, I do have too much time on my hands. :)
