Title: 357th Pony Express - positions open
Post by: Spatula on October 13, 2001, 06:21:00 PM
Wardog is stepping down as CO of the 357th, and i am taking over the position in a temporary role as a guardian of the sqaudron.

We are are looking for keen pilots to fill up the ranks, and a capable, committed pilot to take over the position of CO.

We need a new CO and new recruits to breathe some new life into this great historic sqaudron. The 357th is about having fun while learning about good aircraft combat, wing, strike tactics.

The position for CO will be decided from applicants by all of the current 357th. We are looking for a capable tactician, and dedicated leader who can organise the 357th on multiple levels: sqaud nights, events, training, tactical strikes/patrols. Your fighter skills need not be super-brilliant, but must be adeqaute to set a good example.

Positons for regular pilots will be decided by me (or the new CO whenever that may be). The key requirements are to be: friendly, professional, courteous, fair, and willing to be part of team. Pilot skill is not necessarily a factor, poeple from all countries, walks of life are welcome. Pilots are not restricted to fly any particular plane from any nation, but we will do most of our training in and for the P51. For Sqaud nights you must fly a p51.

Most of our members come from the US and Canada. We have some from Australia and New Zealand (myself). So if you are a kiwi, or aussie, or from Asia that is looking for a good sqaudron then this is a good opportunity. That doesnt mean people from anywhere else aint accepted  ;)

No offense there Spatula, but what's historic about the AH 357th?

I mean, aside from you, who else flies the P-51 on a regualr basis in that squad?

Correct me if I am wrong, but the 357th was the Yoxford Boys and had members like Chuck Yeager and Bud Anderson, who all flew the...

P-51?

Historically  :)

I was refering to the fact that the 357th was an historical sqaudron, i never made any claim as to the AH 357th strictly flying mustangs. The mandate is quite clear.

For those with constructive replies, ie those that wish to apply, please send me a private message.

Lack of time and my job doesnt allow me to do the job that needs done. Spatula was kind enough to take over the CO position till we find a new CO that has the time to work on the Squad..

I do fly at 2:00am to 3:00am in the morning so this doesnt allow me to manage the Squad the way it needs to be managed.

Voss, ill send ya email....

Mandew, Spat and myself still fly the p51. But i find the Tiffy much more of a challenge in a Dogfight. So i spend more time in her.

All pilots welcome, p51 drivers are just a perk.

An excellent link for info on the original 357th FG.. http://www.357thfightergroup.com (http://www.357thfightergroup.com)

Im still here flying, But need Spatula to get things rolling. He gets the CO position this week till we find a new one.

Dog out.........

SOB..

He is more than capable of filling the roll, his worry was being from New Zealand that his time zone wouldnt allow him to hook up with the rest of the guys.

But he has come up with some good suggestions on Squad activities in his time zone. So he can XO and do the same job.  :)

Dog out.............
