I've seen that particular clip a lot, and I've always wondered if that guy made it OK.

Really good video. Nice find

As much as the CV's and the big battle wagons get all the glitz and glory and star recognition. Its a shame that those that bore the most suffering and damage during the war are rarely mentioned. Those would be the picket ships, light cruisers and the like.

Someone should really do a series on the lesser known vessels as well.

There's a marvelous Heavy Metal/Battlestations (same show, different name) episode on WWII destroyers.  They reshow it from time to time.  The series runs on the History Channel.
