The things Japanese do just makes you wonder...
-
I recognize her (it?) She's a vocaloid, a piece of computer software that can sing whatever you imput.... but.... but....
Is she a hologram? or... what?? Never seen her as anything but a drawling. wow. my brain can't even begin to try to figure out that one.
The future is here... in Japan... tenticles can't be far behind.

Holographic technology.... While it's still crude, you can see her hands go through her hair a few times and her lips are not completely in sync with her singing (which could be due to the quality of the video), to name a couple "glitches" I saw, it's still very impressive. You can see that there is a "screen" that has been put into place on the stage. It's not easy to see, but if you look carefully, you can see it. It's something the projectors use to project the image onto. Don't ask me for details though. lol To be quite honest, I am not surprised that it is the Japanese that did this. They are the ones leading the world in "unknown" technology like this, like their humanoid robot. This is still VERY impressive and they are well on their way to making it happen.

I'm sitting here, trying very hard to understand why the Japs are worshiping machines designed to look and act like women...
I just can't do it...
Just one conclusion: They are the most desperate nation on earth...

Warship is a bit strong. . . and yah, this has been aound for awhile - nothing new.
Its th 'idol' thing. . . hard to explain to people who were not raised with it. And as for weird stuff, that rabbit hole is very deep - so so I infer from what my western friends keep saying when they come.
-
This has all happened before and will happen again.

Trust me, this isn't just japanese only. And hologram concerts aren't really that new, once went to a Gorillaz concert, was insane in real life.

Also, the character is a huge hit in the Weaboo crowd. (Still cannot stand weaboos...)

Anybody remember playing this bad boy? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_Traveler_%28video_game%29 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_Traveler_%28video_game%29) IIRC it was $1.00 a play when most other games still cost a quarter. The game play kinda sucked but for the time it was mind blowing to walk into the local arcade and see that sitting there.

Japan has a social problem with the teen through 30's males chasing cyber porn over chasing Japanese females. Why do you think most of the females in their animation have exaggerated features or are littel Lollita lollypops? Ever wondered why pre twenties female characters almost can't keep their skirts low enough while grown female characters either wear tight jump suits or tight dresses and have large bsoombas.....
The hero can fight giant mecha monsters all day long. Then he spends all of his down time blushing every time he's near a female......The villan though gets to do many things to females along with always having the most sexy evil female in the story as his girlfreind. But then thier Vampire animation stories make Twilight look like kindergarden.....
Japanese are repressed very twisted people if you look into their pop culture.
I used to live in Wakkanai on Hokkiado island around the time of the Pueblo incident.

It looks like the vocaloid is viewable from front and back. I'm not convinced it's just an animation on a screen.
Either way, how much longer till I can get a virtual cockpit displayed around me? :x
(Did I miss the transfer of this thread from "Woh! Neat tech!" to "Damn Japanese anime"?? Easy guys.... easy...)

:huh.... :headscratch:
Yup... that pretty well sums it up. :huh

You are unable to tell in that video but if you click the link in that videos description that says Deut, You will clearly see a SCREEN that is clear onto which the images are projected, they are not holograms at all just big projected cartoons lol, Neat concept but you wont see me paying $20+ for a concert ticket of a singing cartoon character.

MOVED TO THE O'CLUB.

real concerts are dieing out? NOOOOOO :O

This man has it right.

That is a special glass that they use to project that. It is made by taking a couple layers of glass, and sandwiching special plastics in between them. This is not really new technology, it has been around for about seven years now. The company that came up with it, is based in the US.

fine, buy a ticket to a show and try to run through the hologram. You'll make a great youtube vid.
